Blimey D, I had you down as M.I.A pressumed drunk
I don't beleave this sh t,after my paint misshap on the 102,I've found I'm a complete spure missing from the Mossie,I've got two "D's" but no "F".
I emailed Airfix yesterday and phoned them today and its all in hand,I'll crack on as best I can and get some pics up soon.

About four years ago I bought a Tamiya 48th scale Mossie from the LHS. Got it home, opended it up, one sprue missing and another doubled up. It must be a Mossie thing.

Raj, Considering the fit issues you've had you should be proud of what you have produced. It looks great!

Anthony, I badly wanted that kit before I saw your pics. Now I MUST have it. Camo looks perfect.

Hi guys, I'm back again doing my admin duties. I've gone over the last few pages and updated the Roll Call/Build Status post on Page 1. We are up to 15 builds underway and 2 completed.

Awesome work by Graham on the Me 262 and Anthony on the He 215, congrats guys on 2 superb builds ! Anthony, don't forget to drop a pic or two in the Campaign Gallery HERE to keep Graham's Schwalbe company while the rest of us catch up.

With a bit of good management and a lot of luck I might even get a start on the interior of my 110 later today.

Cheers, D

I made the descision to complete the Me 410 first, then hop over to the P-40 campaign, build my Tomahawk and finish the Me 110 afterwards as there is still a lot to do and I don't have the nerves to build both Zerstörer at once .....
At least there is some progress in my work. RLM 74/75/76 is done by now ....

.... and yesterday I painted the tiny mottling on the fuselage sides. I will leave it this way though I'm not fully satisfied with it. Though I thinned the paint with 500 % thinner, it's till too opaque ....

Let's hope I can do better at the Me 110.

@Raj
I like your 110. That looks really fine. Last weekend I masked the canopy and now I will mask RLM 75 to airbrush RLM 74.

Happy modelling!

Are we really only looking for twin engined fighters for this campaign? It's just i'm thinking a bit 'out the box' on this one, with a new kit I've just picked up.

thanks

"Torchy Andy Mossie (1/24 Airfix) OPENED THE BOX AND HAD A BEER"

Brilliant,made I larf!!
Raj... them rivet details and panel lines came out a treat
Torsten...the 410 looks ace mate,very spotty

I've got bits all over the place!!!
The cannon pack started

lots of sub assemblies laying about, some in a basic cockpit green, some not!

The fit of the parts so far are perfect, hats off to Airfix on that score,on the down side are the punch out marks which are not too much hassle with the right tools,ie Mr surfacer,a curved scaple blade and a fibreglass pen, and the sometimes really heavy sprue attachment points, you must be really carefull detaching parts to avoid damage to the kit part.
The massive instruction book is a pain,as it's soooo big,I've taken to breaking it down and folding it into more manageable sections as I'm not building it in order due to a missing spure which really ing this build up.
I'll get some more pics up soon as I start to weather bits and bobs
Bosh on
Andy

P.S. Engines..... what colour,IWM are black/semi gloss black but what would they be in WWII ,natural metal?

After looking at all of the beautiful building going on here I decided to work on my P38. Around 30 minutes later I threw it back in the box for now.

Mike, I refer you to ....

The Rules and Regs
1. Twin Engine Heavy Fighter
2. Must have been OPERATIONAL in World War 2 (i.e. no what-ifs or experimental versions), so documentation must be provided for some of the obscure ones, such as using Strafer-nosed B-25's as a stop-gap night fighter just before the P-61's arrived in the Pacific.

We want to keep to this line of builds, what did you have in mind ?

Torchy, two things I have to comment on:
1. That's a scary looking bunch of sub-assemblies mate, both in size and number !!
2. There's an even MORE scary number of brushes in that coffee cup !!

Looking good so far on the uber-mossie, I'm looking forward to following your build.

Torsten, great work on the 410. I haven't worked up the courage (or skills) to attempt mottling yet, so you guys making it look so nice have my admiration !!

Raj, very impressive progress on the 110, great work so far.

Bob, 30 minutes is well long enough to put something photo-worthy together so come on, show us where you're at with the P-38 !

Cheers, D

Damian thats fine, in a temporary moment of madness i forgot where to look for the rules believe it or not.

I was thinking my new Hobby Boss Ta152C-0 but only as it was more heavily armed than the twins such as the Bf110's!

That clears it up, back to plan A, which is still looking like a ME410 but with twin granaten werfers under each wing.

thanks

Thanks everyone for your kind words about me HE219. I entered it in my local club and it won first prize which I was pretty chuffed with.

Raj, Torsten, Adam, Andy and Bob your builds are coming along nicely.

Cheers

P.S How do I post pics in the gallery?

Hi everybody,

It's about time for me to start something on this heavy duty campaign.

Although I pledged to build the Revell/Monogram Bf.110 G-2, I cannot help to switch maker and turn to the Eduard Stuff.
Why?? Plain laziness.... the Revell Kit suffers from very inaccurate engine cowlings (and that's 2 bloody huge cowlings, mind you) and the sheer time&effort using scratch and the resin update set from cutting edge just put me off! the Eduard kit probably has also some issues but nothing so scary!

I intend to build also an earlier Bf. 110 (C version) using the new Xtradecal BoB decal sheet, so it's going to be a busy campaign.

Now to share my first shots, made & taken today,
The box

Some painting w/very soft shading, keeping in mind that the real thing probably didn't have a very long operational life, thanks to the "mighty eight" escorts

Later on will do the highlight tecs and some more colors besides RLM 66.
Something a little cleaner than this other cockpit from a Ju88 with a long winter career on the OstFront

Always welcome any suggestions or remarks

That's one gorgeous cockpit Pedro, I hope to be able to match it one day.

The Mossy is now standing on its legs

Next up is to finish the gear and then more filling & sanding. Got to get rid of those awful rivets.

Well the great work continues here, by everybody except one of the Campaign co-leaders (yours truly) . Roll Call and Build Status updated.

Pedro, thanks for joining in. I have changed your build in the Roll Call post and I'm looking forward to your build. That Ju 88 cockpit is stunning by the way !

Adam, your Mossie looks great sitting up on its legs !

Bob, thanks for giving us a peek at your build. I'm almost fully recovered from that nasty F-82 incident, so THANKS for reminding me. The twitching has started up again !! One suggestion, try running some masking tape along either side of those seams, leave a 1-2mm gap, before you throw the filler at it. Once you peel it off you just need to feather the edges and you will save a lot of sanding time.

I will post a pic of the moulding problem with my 110 shortly, so you guys can see why I haven't fired it up just yet.

Cheers, D
