About mark58
I've been modelling aircraft for some years now, around 40 with some interuptions, and I'm just wondering about the broad offer of superb modelling stuf which exists today. My favorite areas are from WW2 to the 70s. I like to create scenes in various styles, including figurines, vehicles , equipment and of course architecture. I work mainly in 48 scale, but sometimes also in 72 and 32 scale. I try to make items from my own design available to the modeller community under the mark58 brand. Like many modellers, I've been buying dozens of kits over the years, but building only a few. The last three years saw a permanent action in selecting the interesting subjects, improving quality level, and reducing quantity at the same time. Surprisingly, I'm not found of resins and aftermarket parts, I enjoy building out of the box, scratching some details if necessary. However, I like the profipack concept very much. I'm found of airfield architecture, and spent quite some time researching the subject. This ended up in creating everything necessary to illustrate typical styles or theaters. A number of items exist and I plan to make them available in the next future. Building dioramas is not technicaly difficult. It requires some artistic backgroud, understanding light and coulours, volumes and composition. It requires time for analysing reference, picking up the caracteristics, and put scenes together, just like a painting on a canvas. Aviation is good subject, especialy WW2, where airfields were implemented in a huge variety of countries and landscapes But what I enjoy most, is friendship with those guys just somewhat nuts like me. We like discussing new kits, reference, projects, ending up in nice models and new architectural designs.
