Messerschmitt Me P1106

by: Peter Allen [ FLITZER ]

BACKGROUND
A design intended to supercede the Me 1101 which was already in early production when the war ended. The design went through many variations, including T-tail configuration and versions with rocket power.

The design described here is a later proposed development, adopting a slightly further forward cockpit and a “V” tail. Wings were swept at 45 degrees. Power was intended to be provided by a single He S 011 turbojet mounted far forward in the fuselage with the intake in the nose. Armament of 2 MK 108 cannon was proposed. The design was abandoned due to poor pilot visibility and the fact that performance would not have been a great improvement on that of the Me P1101.

THE KIT
HUMA Models from Germany generally produce high quality, limited run injection kits of unusual and concept aircraft that are a match for most of this type.

Type: Injection.

Parts:1 Sprue of 33 parts including a pilot.

Quite a simple, but high quality kit with excellent moulding with virtually no flash, hence minimal clean up.
Main parts are clearly but delicately detailed. All parts go together well with accurate alignment. Although the opening is very small at 1/72nd it would benefit from a little detailing work even though not much would be seen.

CLEAR PARTS
One very good injection canopy is provided. Nice and clear and quite thin.

DECALS
Basic set of decals for one aircraft provided including swastikas. Good quality but rather plain.

INSTRUCTIONS
Neat and clearly illustrated assembly steps with sprue ident and colour camo scheme. But as this is a Luft 46 model one may allow imagination to be implemented. Scheme in instructions different to that depicted on box top illustration.

VALUE
This is quite an expensive kit, but is of high quality and limited run. For this money however, it would be expected to have a much better detailed cockpit provided as either injection or as an extra resin set and a much more complete set of decals .
SUMMARY
Although relatively expensive, Huma's Me P1101will make a very nice model of a very unusual plane. A kit for experienced and beginners alike.
