Tempest Mk.V Exhaust Stacks

by: Rowan Baylis [ MERLIN ]

Among the extras that Eduard have released for their new 1:48 Hawker Tempest is a set of rein exhaust stacks.

The standard kit parts certainly aren't bad, correctly featuring the bifurcated exhausts for the 24-cylinder Sabre engine, but the new resin replacements are really in a different league, and are beautifully cast with weld seams and a lip around each hollowed out pipe something the plastic parts couldn't hope to replicate.

The parts are protected in transit with a clear blister pack and plenty of soft foam to stop them rattling around.

The set includes a small sheet of instructions, but they are hardly necessary because the resin stacks are straight plug-in replacements for the styrene versions. All that's needed is to remove the parts from their casting blocks and you're ready to go.

Conclusion
Eduard's resin exhausts are gorgeous and will be very straightforward to use, offering a dramatic improvement over the standard kit parts. Their simplicity makes them ideal for newcomers to working with resin.
