Filling the interceptor role within the Royal Air Force starting back int the mid 1950's. the Lightning was a single-seat fighter manufactured initially by English Electric. The F.6 was one of several variants created throughout the lightnings long career. The F.6 sported and increase in range most likely from new designs in the fuel cells, newly designed wings from previous models allowing better efficiency and subsonic performance and a reintroduction of the 30mm cannon. There were only thirty-nine Lightning F.6's developed along with a few more that were converted from the previous F.3 and F.3A variants.

Basilios found this Lightning to be a very nice kit from Airfix. His interest in this kit was after looking for a model to work with the new Vallejo Acrylic Metal Colors paints. Having not tried them before, Basilios wanted just to replace all his enamels and lacquers metal colors with an acrylic option. The result... "Superb!!!"

Basilios found the paints to be of very nice quality and absolutely odorless!!! He used the Silver as a basic color and after masking some panels, mixed Silver with Steel and Aluminum. Two layers Vallejo's Gloss Varnish from the same range( before and after the decals) followed by some washes of black blue oil in the panel lines. He really enjoyed these new Metal Colors from Vallejo...the best part though was no one in the house complained about the smell!!! "Now i have in my plans... to buy the rest colors from the range! Maybe my wife will complain a little for this......!"
