moson 2013
Moson Model Show is probably one of the most important Central European modelling events and during its two decade history it grew to the one of the biggest ones as well. It is organized by The Mosonmagyaróvár Modeling Club and its frontman András Egresi as "the man in charge".

The show takes place in the main hall of The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Science, West-Hungarian University, Mosonmagyaróvár, a town close to Austrian border in North-Western part of Hungary. This year, as traditionally, it took place on a sunny weekend, April the 20th and the 21st. Yes, it's a two day event with lots to see.

As I mentioned it's mainly a Central European show with competitors from Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, etc., but recently as the show grew bigger, competitors come from all over Europe even as far as Ireland, Iceland, Scandinavia, Russia, Turkey, Greece and Spain. There are two photos with the maps of Hungary and Europe and each pin represents a hometown of each competitor. There was even one from Tunisia, North Africa.

The show is really big with more than 1000 models of all genres in competition with aeronautical and AFV section being the strongest. There are two main categories: Hobby and Master, and 60 subcategories plus 4 special categories.

Regarding the age there are four categories: Senior, Junior (16-18), Youngster (13-15) and Children (0-12). The quality of the models is on the highest level concerning the fact that they come from all over Europe. Let the photos speak for themslves.

One very important aspect of the show is the modelling market or "shopping" if you like ;) which takes place in neighboring Biotechnical School. There were more than 50 vendors from all over Europe with the Eduard Shop being the biggest. There was of course the new Spitfire Mk.IX in quarterscale for sale, world premiere I think.

All in all it was a great show with lots of great models, excellent organization, lots of visitors and friendly atmosphere. This year it was my first but definitely not last.Enjoy...

PS: If you're planning to visit Moson next year, make sure to book accommodation months in advance ;)

About Marko Vidmar (vidmarko)
FROM: SLOVENIA

Yep - it's amazing that this has managed to pass without comment almost all month. I would dearly love to be able to put my name to some of the work shown here! Outstanding! Thanks, as ever, Marko for your excellent photo-reports. All the best Rowan
