1⁄48Prepare for Heavy Weathering!
a few words from k4K4 is a new solution to finishing your model. From painting to weathering and all steps in between, K4 is using an innovative approach to supplying a great product at a fair price. A handmade product, K4 is designed with the purpose of giving aid to the modeler. A user friendly collection of Paints, Pigments and Washes and Effects are created to reduce the steps within the process of finishing a model. Items, like the pigments, are of the highest quality. They have a higher coating application which reduces the use of excess materials, giving you a superior coverage this first time. The effect and Washes are 100% made with these pigments and bring a higher concentration of color to the palette of the modeler. The Rust Effects are designed to reduce the steps that are used in obtaining that lightly weathered vehicle, plane or boat, right up to the heavily weathered veterans and forgotten relics of our time.
K4 is not limited to paints, pigment and effects; we supply Decal and transfer solutions, paint chipping fluid, thinners and more. Daily there are new additions to the ever growing list of products soon to be available in the modeling world.
A Zero K4 StyleA number of things sometimes go into building a kit; selecting the kit, planning, building, painting and so on. Sometimes, things become more complicated and can bog down a project if not inevitably stall it to the point it will end up the illustrious “shelf queen” that we all know and love. This is not one of these.
Having the feeling, excuse me, the need to build and paint something quick as to not get too involved as all the “other” projects I have going, I joined a group build on my local online forum stomping ground. I picked the most unlikely of builds for me; a Mitsubishi Zero from Tamiya.
I, for one, am not a plane guy! Building mostly 1/24th cars and trucks as well as 1/35 armor, I never spent much time building the “wingy-things”. Sometimes you just need to jump with both feet in. Being an older production kit, I believe it’s a nice little kit just the same. Oh, did I mention that it only set me back about eight dollars? So with no aftermarket supplies, a cheap kit, glue and a little imagination, it was time to build.
There was a secondary deciding factor with this build. The paint and weathering. I recently amassed a pretty nice selection on K4 weathering products and paints.
Brand new to the modeling world, K4 are taking a firm grasp on the reigns and getting ready for the ride. I figured what better way to give the paints a run for their money than to whip out the air brush and have at it.
K4 has an enormous selection of weathering products from paints, washes and pigments to pigment fixer, decal solution and a nice little Rusting System consisting of a base rust and activating catalysts which will give you a wide array of not only colors but texture. I hope to be able to show you many of the products here.
