Merchweiler Model Expo 2009

Faszination Modellbau PMC Saar '92
The Merchweiler Model Expo "Faszination Modellbau PMC Saar '92" takes place every year around October and is the occasion for German, French but also Benelux modellers to meet together. The expo is not focused only on aircraft but this year the "flying thingies" occupied about the half of the display shelves and there were some fantastic looking models, especially in the smaller scales (1:72 and 1:144), with some great collections.

There were many vendors at the show: reference books, aftermarket products, model kits, swap meets etc... there was plenty of stuff to make a modeller happy. There are no contests at the Merchweiler Expo because the organisators prefer to keep the entry money to organize a free lunch for the participants, instead of buying trophies, medals or prizes. A very good idea!

We spent an enjoyable Sunday at the show and it was the occasion to see fellow modelers in flesh, which is always interesting. I'm already looking forward to next years show!

I want to thank the folks from the PMC Saar '92 Club for the very fine day we spent at Merchweiler and if you want to see even more pictures of the models, you can find the full load at the IPMS Deutschland website here.
