Lake Charles is a community of a little over 70,000 hard-working citizens that is about 160 miles from my home but the drive to this show is just right. When I arrived, it was apparent that this year’s show would be nicely attended. It was a cloudy day with a chilly, biting wind coming in off the gulf that made the gumbo go down very nicely. With 250 or so models on the tables and hobbyists milling about the event room and vendor area we were all slightly surprised to see the local news channel show up. One of my favorite shows to attend every year is the Lake Charles IPMS show. Their hospitality is only exceeded by the fantastic Cajun Gumbo that attendees look forward to every year. They are not the biggest show of Region 6, nor do they claim to be, but they offer a venue and atmosphere that holds up the best virtues of our hobby. Being on the Gulf of Mexico, the venue changed some years back due to bad weather. The show organizer, as well as a number of other local club members, had their homes partially destroyed by hurricane Rita a few years ago but the show went on none the less. Please enjoy the images.
