1⁄35Three Years and a BF-110 G-2
|This is the Revell- Monogram 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-2. It was actually the subject of my second post on
Armorama, (the first being "hello") asking what the function of part 220 ( side panel) was. As in all the other forums, I asked the question nobody knew. I had my own theory but more of that later.
It made me wonder, though, because no review that I read ever mentioned it. The point being that until I could find out what it was I couldnít finish the model. Well I could finish it but you just know that within a week of painting it black and installing it into the cockpit, where it canít be got at Murphyís law says you find out what it is. Donít get me wrong I am not a rivet counter, I mostly build out of the box, but sometimes those little details have to have a semblance of correctness. I also have very few references and only have a few photos, in a few books, nothing specifically on the 110. However I can say that this definitely looks like a Bf 110 G-2. I canít do a review on this
bird as itís been some time in the building and I canít remember if there were any problems or not, apart from the previously mentioned piece. I have another G-2 and a G-4
night-fighter so when I build the next one I could do a review then.
I can say that it is a nicely detailed model-particularly the cockpit, undercarriage and wheel wells. The tires are nicely bulged, and as you can see the wheels are not at right angles to the legs. This angle is set perfectly by the engineering of the gear components.†
