According to Stefan Ericson (Phantom2), the new 1/48 scale Westland Wyvern from Trumpeter is a high-scoring quality kit: easy to assemble with excellent fit, great selection of ordinance, very good detail throughout and clear instructions. Only nitpicks are the decals and colour recommendations that could have been better done. Check out his detailed build report for more informations!

Hmm ... I get some strange thingies in the article

Edit: they appear after a period and replace the space the next large letter --- pg.1 one has much more than pg.2 (only a few)

I have surely not the most wide spread hw/sw combination(using Linux w/ Firefox) but I did not come across those on Aeroscale yet .. what character encoding should I use for the article?

cheers

Hi Steffen!

That's strange. The text looks fine here... but I noticed that in some places the space between a period and the next letter just disappeared!

Anyone else is having troubles with that article?

Truly strange. You see little boxes with four circles, I get these "male" signs (circle with an arrow pointing diagonally up). I'm using windows XP and Firefox (1.5.0.7)
Tried it with IE, worked fine.

Great article btw. I bought that kit right away when I saw it in a LHS. Now I'm concentrating on FUMS, but after that, I'll probably build that next.

i think that problem has something to do with the text being first cut n'pasted in the Kitmaker editor forms from MS Word or other rich text formating software. But this really shouldn't spoil or stop anybody to look at this great feature!
The Wyvern might be one of the best looking brit planes ever too!

Uh! Strange indeed!

It seems these "things" are located in places were the space disapeared in my text. So it's visible for you but not for me.

I know Stefan sent me the text within a Word file. Maybe this is the problem. I simply copied and pasted it in TextEdit (my Mac program).

In the future, it would be really nice to submit a text in the simpliest format possible. Don't use Word or any other program with advanced layout features. Use WordPad on your PC, you really don't need more. We do the editing afterwards. The simpliest the text file, the easier it is for us to work with. Also, if you submit pictures for an article, don't use names like: interior.jpg, landinggear.jpg, cockpit.jpg etc... Instead use numbers. Example: Wyvern01.jpg, Wyvern02.jpg, Wyvern03.jpg etc... This is useful if you refer to pictures in your text. Otherwise, the pictures will be listed randomly without any logical link to the text... and we have additional work to do to figure out the way the pictures must be displayed in a feature.

Does someone know how to eliminate these "things" in the text?

to elimiate those things is no problem.
1/ you copy paste on a not formating text software (simpletext on mac) the text currently posted on the site.
2/ you spot for those weird signs (it does a square on my own computer).
3/ you copy the weird bit
4/ you do edit/replace, paste the weird sign on the upper box and an empty space on the second one and it will replace the sign with a space (eh!)
5/copy/Paste the stuff back on the site
hope it helps

Hi Jean-Bernard!

Great minds think alike! :-)

Any idea how we can change this?

Jean-Luc

EDIT: I see you answered before I asked! :-)

Hi again!

Maybe I don't get it... don't forget I'm French! :-)

I made a copy/paste of the Wyvern text in my TextEdit program but it appears fine with no squares or the like...

Could someone send me a copy of the text with squares via e-mail? That would be nice. I just can't spot these damn "things".

Nice article and a nice build.

As for the text problem, I use Opea, and it appears fine, I then checked with IE and again it appears fine, but when I use Firefox, that's when the little boxes for spaces show up. Maybe it's a browser thing?

I copied and pasted from Firefox to a PM,and all the little boxes disappeared when it was pasted.

OK hopefully you got the PM with the little boxes, seems to only be on Firefox.

Hi All!

Sorry If I have caused any trouble to anyone who wanted to read my feature!

Yes, I wrote this feature in Word, as I did with the SM79 Feature wich worked as it was intended to do.
I can´t understand why this one doesn´t work?
It works fine on my screen though.

In the submissions help you state that features can be written in MS word OR in another simpler format?
Why not say "use (this format) period" to avoid any confusions in the future?

Jean-Luc, Please excuse me if I forgot to number the pics correctly!
Not my intention to give you more work then I understand you already must have with this site.

I find it very rewarding to write these features, and it´s also a way for me to give some "pay-back" for all the help I´ve got myself from modellers all over the world on forums like this.

I love this site and all the wonderful, helpful people here, but the submission process could be a lot easier as on other sites.
It´s a bit too complicated for a "computer-challenged" modeller like me! :-)

Cheers!

Hello Stefan

my comment was not meant to cause you any trouble. Normally Word should not be a problem. Sadly the stuff sometimes produces strange signs ...

BTW great Model

cheers

Hi Steffen, and thanks!

No troubles here!

Guess we have to blame it on the computers, that sometimes don´t act as we would want them to! :-) :-) :-)

Hi all... and Stefan!

No need to apologize! The first time I sent my submissions to Rowan I think I gave him even more work...

This is a file standard problem and something must have gone wrong in the editing process. You have a PC, I have a Mac and those who experienced the problems have PCs... this was likely to happen one day! :-)

This is why I asked you (the members who submit features and reviews, not only you Stefan ) to use the simpliest text editing program as it will avoid any issues like these. As for the name of the pictures, we should set some standard yourself so editing is less complicated. Believe me, you can save an hour or two of editing with such things. Maybe I should write a "how to submit an article to aeroscale" feature...

By the way, I edited the Wyvern feature with the text you sent me guys... is it working now?

Hi Steffen!

Yes, that's kind of you! It's to bad this thread was hijacked with technical problems. But let's see it in a positive way. It's been a long time since a "What's New" thread didn't generate that much replies! :-)
