This second photo feature in the Portfolio serie shows some models made by TedMamere (Jean-Luc Formery). They are mainly in 1/48 scale and many of them have been build for various KitMaker Network Campaigns.

is among the oldest and repeatin' - ous varmit modlers on this hear Aeroscale site.
So please excuse me, once again wall ah REPEATs my credo:

Thus . . . this comment about your latest Aeroscale portfolio. First of all, it is a lot of fun
to look at. Obviously, you're an artist; you have such a good grasp of composition,
layout and how to put elements together in a pleasing and eyecatching manner. My
guess is that you're adept with Adobe Photoshop as well. I really appreciated the
time you put into putting that crinkle paper edging around each photo in the clever
post card from the past kind of treatment. I really like the old timey kind of typewriter
text to give it even more of a "blast from the past" flavor along with the pseudo "top
secret" and "Portfolio" rubberstamp headings in red.

And your artistic eye is evident in the shooting of the model photographs as well.
You picked just the right angles and displayed each model to it's best advantage. And
IMHO, you pick camo schemes/paint schemes for the kits you build that offer a lot of
color, variety of color, which also draws the eye into a model more so than the
solid gray model, etc.

This kind of photo essay along with so many other fine presentations I see on
the Big A reminds me just . . . oooooops repeatin'-ous old varmit. . . . how powerful
the internet is!

I agree with everything MiamiJHawk (Rick) said too. Truly a portfolio to drool over. I love the Stuka and the Mig but the others rock as well.

A great feature for a superb set of models. i don't think i could tire looking at those great models. Nice one Jean- Luc.

Steffen, I did hesitate a little before doing this. I didn't wanted to make my own Portfolio at the first place. But fact is that nobody sent me pictures after Andy's (betheyn) September Portfolio. Since I hoped we could publish at least one per month I had no other solution. It was more a need than a desire. I really hope someone will send pictures of his models for the November Portfolio. I know there a a lot of great modelers at Aeroscale and it would be a shame not to have their work displayed in a photo feature.




That's quite right! I think Staff_Jim gave us a great tool with the KitMaker Network and Aeroscale! We should be grateful for that. We can give him something back by submitting content to the site. The easiest way right now is to send us some nice pictures of your models so we can show them to the modelling community. Simply send them via the Support Center or to an Editor via e-mail (first solution is better though) and we will do the rest. There is really a great potential we should use the best we can.

Later, the Portfolio can evolve and we can use it as Gallery for finished Campaigns with a dedicated Artwork. We can also choose a subject for a Portfolio with many different members sending pictures. What do you think about the following ideas:

- Portfolio about a specific aircraft (Spitfire, P-47 , Fw 190, etc...)
- Portfolio about a plane manufacturer (Junkers, Grumman, Hawker, etc...)
- Portfolio about an aircraft type (heavy bombers, nightfighters, trainers, etc...)
- Portfolio about an important air battle (Battle of Britain, Midway, Bodenplatte, etc...)
- And, and, and...

I see Aeroscale as a huge source of information and finished models. We just have to use this potential. I think right now some of it gets lost in the forums after a while.




So, again, it was really not meant to be that! I just wanted to say to the Aeroscale community: PLEASE SUBMIT CONTENT!

Well .. I know getting content is quite difficult and sometimes you just have to do it yourself and with Rowan buried under a bunch of work I fully understand .... so please do not take my comment in any negative sense (and just read my 2nd line again ....)

BTW you see not only I think you are an artist ... maybe you are an artistic art teacher

... you did not answer my question .. what about the Bugatti? The blue flying art work ... remember?

Fabulous Portfolio Jean Luc.
This is a great idea and an excellent way to display a modellers talents all in one place and learn a bit more about them.
My favourite is still the 109 prototype.
JeanLuc was one of the first people to jump in and give me advice on my first build when I returned to the hobby at the end of last year and is always quick to offer advice and pass on his considerable skills and knowledge. A credit to the Kitmaker Network and a great asset to Aeroscale.
I dont suppose we could pursuade you to make the trip over to Telford for Scale Model World next month?
Looking forward to seeing this series develop along with Aeroscale.

As Frank says a pocket of reason. Not just here but compared to anywhere I have been. Aeroscale is a piece of paradise. Good modelers willing to share and help one another.

My only delima is what to show? Maybe just some of my favorites.

Buy yourself a nice digicam and then show us all :-) :-)

Hi Stephen and Steffen!

I see no problem making multiple Portfolios of your models Stephen. You could make one for early WW1, late WW2, French, British, German aircraft, one for each manufacturer, one based on a specific battle/area etc... you could even make one with your... how can I say... more artistic/caricatural models!

Nota Bene: The Staff didn't contacted anyone (via PM or e-mail) to ask for participation in the Portfolio serie, or any other On Display feature. So if one wonders why he/she wasn't asked to contribute, it's certainly not because we think their models are "not good enough". We just think the decision to contribute is something personal.

i thought i'd seen the last of that pesky rata! seriously though, i've seen a lot of the stuff in your portfolio, as it was in the progress of being built and to see it all in one place shows that i'm not the only one who likes to build all sorts of kits in all sorts of different styles of camo.
just one question- whats the first step for someone (maybe with a spanish civil war 109) who wants to send pics for a portfolio?
p.s. still think your CR32 is great!

The first (and only) step is to send us 10 to 20 nice pictures of your models (size between 640 X 480 minimum and 750 X 563 maximum)... and we will do the rest!
