Hi everyone,

uff, building an old Reichsbahn compartment as setting for a dio (showing a german officer frightened by a plane attack during his journey home from front) is as tricky as if You would build it in reality.
At this moment the compartment as interior of the shadow-box is allmost done, except the details (lunch on the ground, magazine, great coat, etc) . Next step will be the figure, then it´s time to fit the light effects: There will be bulbs in the compartment and outside, iluminating the "plane attack". Later all will be boxed and framed. Afortunately I got many material donations by my family so that the project won´t exceed the 5-10 Euro limit.
Here are pictures from the ongoing of the project:

Nice work so far Ralf this is coming along very well.
Are you going to go for the sunset lighting (red) on the overall lighting. Extending the redness of the window plane image?

Yes, I´ll try to achieve a dramatic aspect, extending the redness to the whole scenery. Moreover I want the window to become stronger iluminated than the copartment in order to strenghten the "dangerous" impact from outside. This will be decisive for the whole aspect of he shadow-box.

THe train coupé looks excellent. The coat, seat numbers and rail route plans give a nice touch of reality. I look forward to see the assembly and the figure !

Great idea and well executed! Very original also.
This will be great when finished.
I cant believe some of the entries in this dio competition.
I guess the picture of the attacking plane will make or break the dio and how it comes across. It will be difficult to make it look like an outside view and not a picture on the wall.
good luck with the rest of the dio and hopefully it works out well for ya!

Hi Ralf,
Question, should the window not be able to be opened? I thought these windows were spit in two, and the upper part could be slided down!
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Otherwise: looks great!

Hi Gollikell,

here the reference fore the compartment. The old 2nd class Reichsbahn wagons had windows, that had to be pulled down in a whole part.
