been a while but getting close.. need to paint a few more bits of stowage (and may choose to do more) and then apply mud.....

Probably already mentioned that the Italeri kit is the Peerless/Max model. I built it back in the 70s. Dunno why but I love the White Scout Car! Really enjoying your model of it.

I built a 1/35th old Peerless/ Zvenda model of this way back when in British North Africa service. I added three figures and other detailing. It's a great kit all around.

finally kicked myself to do some more work on this, added "dust" as a pre-cursour to mud effects (first time doing dust, used Mig old wood as it is the paint I was using elsewhere, should tone down when I add mud and then other pigments)

Hairspray whitewash done. A little bit of shipping (enough?). Next up will be oil rendering with white to give some variation

battered... too battered??? (and battered literally - dropped it and front axle and drive shaft broke off - repair job needed). Also had a go at making stowage for the windscreen shield and one wheel arch. Next stop hairspray and whitewash - maybe tomorrow

thanks... I would love to get the old Airfix Portee (only as there is no alternative in plastic), or maybe the US one with the gun on the back (think it is a dodge but not sure)
The Airfix Portee was an old Max/Peerless mould from the sixties and has been released regularly by italeri but without the 6 pdr which they sell seperately. Quite available and the current release even includes the 6 pdr: https://www.italeri.com/en/product/993/3/21
The Airfix US one you refer too was the 6x6 Dodge WC with a towed 6 pdr or the M6 GMC WC 55 4x4 with the 37mm gun, also easy to find in Italeri, Zvesda, Bilek, or Tomy labelling https://www.scalemates.com/kits/italeri-6555-m6-gun-motor-carriage-wc-55--1140445

Started weathering - panel line highlight. Also started on the stowage (not my best technique - couldn't really find a how-to on YouTube - any thoughts?)

I too built this vehicle. A very satisfying kit and very well detailed for its' age.
The one thing I changed/upgraded was to use some more recently produced 1/35th WWII gas cans with the correct 3-bar carry handles. It was not difficult to manufacture the support shelf on the bottom of the can and to add a tie down strap across the can.
I suppose you could simply cut off the older handles and add the 3-bar handles, discarding the rest of the newer can.

The Airfix Portee can be found in other boxes - always the same kit, just different boxes/producers.
Same with the several other 'Airfix' 1/35 scale kits of that era - most were originally released by Peerless/Max

I have been building ye olde Italeri M3A1 Scout Car, going to finish it a distressed white wash using the hair spray technique... Have enjoyed he build - an old kit but goes together mostly OK
Olive drab modulation on... photos look a lot greener than it actually is. Next up will be gloss & decals and then will try the hairspray technique for white wash
