Tim! The best Tour I've seen with action every day. A friend of mine think 1996 was a better year though with the Bjarne Riis - Jan Ulrich duel !

Russell! A Wildcat crop duster would have been more entertaining than useful!

No loose parts left except for the canopies! Still some more detail painting to do. And the exhaust traces...

I would agree with that Magnus, although 1987 was pretty exciting when Stephen Roche won it. Its been riveting to watch this year, particularly the time trial and the climb up La Planche des Belles Filles. Really wasn't anticipating Pogacar pulling back that 50 seconds, but he managed to even gain another 50 seconds. Incredible to do that over a 6km distance on a climb.

Your Wildcats are looking great. I'm not a great fan of the Widcat, but you've made me think again about them

Beautiful work Magnus, they look great. At first glance you wouldn't pick up that they are the same aircraft with such differing schemes!

Been away for 2 weeks, so I just had to catch up with your progress, Magnus. Since my last visit here, your F4 have turned into really great looking little gems. Congrats!

Friends! Nearing the end of this, I have spent tonight finishing two Quickboost Mk VIII gunsights.

Some rather unwelcome (I am not too fond of the stuff...) photo-etch to allow for using these without the reflector glass in a late-model Hellcat, Corsair, Bearcat or even a Tigercat! In the Wildcat however, it had the glass so no getting away from it...

Painted off-black, dry-brushed using Humbrol 64 grey, reflector glass added using UV-hardening fly fishing glue (wholeheartedly recommended!).

Just need to get them in place in the cockpit but I'll do that tomorrow!

Russell! These are number four and five for this year, keeping me ahead of schedule to reach my minimum allowed number of builds that is officially set to six !

Friends! Thanks for keeping me company during these builds! Time to close this thread...

Preshading worked great on the light undersurfaces of both models.

Kits are great, choice of markings are great! Two fun builds that result in two very neat little chubby ship-borne fighters!

With the models joining the collection the only thing there is left is retiring the avatar:

I'll be back soon with a kit that is a lot more scary and rather different !

That's a very neat pair of Wildcats, Magnus! The paint job is really well done. I can't decide which one I like more. Congrats!

I have more or less all quarterscale Wildcats from Hobbyboss in my stash. Looking at yours makes me want to build mine. But for the rest of 2020 I still have other plan(e)s ....

Looking forward to your next build!

Great duo build Magnus and superb finish at the end. Really like the subtle weathering you achieved. So whats your verdict on the AK paints you used?

Torsten! Thanks! Glad you like them! I was a bit sceptical to the grey Atlantic scheme beforehand but I think it turned out to become my favourite of the two!

Tim! AK paints are up there among the best I would say, after thinning they spray excellently and they dry hard and very smooth. They do however need to be thinned with "real" thinner, no water or alcohols, making painting a rather smelly affair. I used MrP thinner and also added a bit of MrP clear to them.

numbers 4 and 5, Magnus!? Congratulations are due with the cracking open of a few well earned

Beautiful builds by far!

Now, if I can get my Gladiator finished before the end of the year, that brings me to 5 also... but if you manage to finish another then you'll beat me for sure
