Alright, as this campaign will definitely run past the proposed migration to the new site, I've started a new thread in the Group Builds section, it can be found here. You can start posting there whenever you're ready, and can post in both threads if you like.

Time marches on!

Great work RussellE! Can't wait to see your biplane finihed.

Primož

Thank you Primož ☺️

If the rest of the kit is as good as the start, I think this build will go quite quickly. 🤞 For a finish before the end of the year... 😉

Primoz, Colin, some great work there guys!

Finally I am able to show some progress on Airfix's Gloster Gladiator...

The cockpit is all done using Eduard's PE set... This is the first time I've attempted PE seat belts! Wow! Fiddly!

sorry this one's a bit blurry... pics were taken on my mobile...

And the wings are on... well the lower wings... And I have to say, this is the best fitting wing to fuselage join I've ever come across...

more soon...

PS... wow the site is slow today-it was a real struggle to make this post

Coming along nicely Primoz! Finally got the paint on mine, my neck is aching from that camo pattern. Certainly won't be an award winner but looks good from 2-3 feet away lol. Time for touchups. This one has battled me all the way, don't know why I came back to a limited run kit...

Firs step in the build was to adress the underbely refrigirator. It had an anoying pin mark right in the center of otherwise beautifly designed mesh. Cause I didn't have any similar mesh at home i decided to do one myself, For the purpose I rescribed a flat and thin styreen shet with mesh pattern.

This is the finished refrigirator.

Nex step was interior, where I scrached some inside construction. I use the profile see through drawing found on the internet. Then I also aded a flooring to the cockpit.

That's all.

Primoz

Hope to have some assembly done next week!

Hello guys, nice work so far. I'm joining the groub build with Polikarpov R-5. This is where I start from:

I'm planning to build this camouflaged transport plane, which is well documented.

Great job Thomas! I have pretty much completed assembly, waiting until paint is on before putting the upper wing is on.

Fixed that misaligned strut, too.

Ok no one should call me lazy this weekend (ok rain also helped a lot not to go out and make "useful" things in the garden...) as I finished the crew and than right after the paint dried the diorama base of the whole scene.

This was my second biplane ever and it was a great fun for me to build this famous airplane with an latin american operator. This new AIRFIX kit made my taste for more. I hope you had fun with my build and like the outcome as much as I do.

Obrigado e Adeus

Superb work and a great diorama Thomas

Congratulations on a most excellent build! No one would call you lazy, that's for certain Certainly inspiring me to finish mine, now

How was the new Airfix kit to build?

Thank you very much for your pleasing words Russell That Airfix kit was a joy to build. Fit of parts and details are very nice. Only "drawback" was the somehow bad smelling paper manual

Curious about your wingy now

Ok no one should call me lazy this weekend (ok rain also helped a lot not to go out and make "useful" things in the garden...) as I finished the crew and than right after the paint dried the diorama base of the whole scene.

I saw some pics of brazilian pilots and aircrews during WWII and it seems they had the same equipment as US pilots. I therefore used DJITI PRODUCTION´s new USAAF Pilots set. The one with the officers cap got its cap white for representing the Naval service and the other one the usual outfit similar as an US crew. I didn´t found any patches or sleeves for the Brazilian Naval service Aircorps so I just painted the one with the peaked cap a winged patch over his left breast

And right after this I wanted to finish the whole thing today and tinkered a small diorama base out of a wooden picture frame I had laying around. The runway was done with 1200 grind gray sandpaper dusted with different pigments. The small floral runway edge was from a spare MININATUR matting:

Wow Thomas, you are a speed builder! Looks great, gotta get moving on mine, good thing for me this build goes to next April lol.

Hey Colin, thank you. Actually I´m really not a speed builder but this one have very few parts to build together. The paintjob is also not that sophisticated than others so it was a rather straightforward finish
