Ezra, your Mustang look nice. I especially like the OD. I used XF-62 for my P-51A, but it looks too green, what did you use to paint your Mustang?

I cant tell you the exact ratio but it was a mix of Ivy green, Black and yellow. (black and yellow make OD )you can mix it more if you want a more fresh or weathered.

Ezra, thanks for the information re: OD.

Here is what XF-62 looks like straight from the bottle.

Here I am trying to tone it down without stripping it off.

I mean I think it looks good how it is I mean all OD fades different. Like look at the difference between the B-17 NINEoNINE and then compare it to a fresh off the factory OD finish. It also matters where it is stationed, how long its benn in action ext. the apache im making has been in action in Sicily for some time so it was pretty beat up. Really its your choice. and oh if you want to fade it more you could post scade with a lighter OD. Anyways what do I know im only 14 and have been modeling for 3 years!

Ezra, you are correct that OD fades fast in the weather. I pulled out the bottle of XF-62 without thinking. I have two mixed shades of OD, but just passed over them without even checking. Probably a senior moment.

14 is an age that new techniques are not feared and learned at varying degrees. Which you have down along with knowledge of the history.

Plan on seeing you in other campaigns I hope.

I am done with wiping down using mineral spirits to try and tone down the XF-62 and make it look more weathered.

That looks great! ( If you want some more fading you could dot some dust colored oil paint in the middles of panels and then blend it, thats what I did on the Apache.)
