Michael, I like the green and yellow with the 3 different a/c.

Bob

I have been working on the Spitfire and I think that it now looks OK!

Way to go Bob! Looking good, I'm glad to see the Spit get put back on the bench. I still regret throwing away some of my models. Keep up the good fight, can't wait to see more progress.
Take care,

This Campaign has been a bit slow as far as posting has gone. I have finished my build and I have to say that I am very pleased with the outcome despite the atrocious Peddinghaus decals, I get better at aircraft with each build. It's a great learning experience. So without further delay here is my finished build.

Very nice work Jeff!

I expect things will pick up. I have a feeling my Hanukkah present might make an appearance soon.

Hey folks. This is my first campaign for aircraft. I also made a mistake with the forums: I forgot to click post on the earlier draft I made. Oops. Anyway, here's my entry: Hobby Boss P-51D. The cockpit detail is sparse, the landing gear is reversed and there are features that make the aircraft a later model than the one advertised in the decals. Still, quite a quick plane to put together. I love the concept of these easy build kits. Good practice for when I build the Tamiya.

Edit: I forgot to add that this was supposed to be a bare metal bird but I dropped some thinner into the finished NMF and my thumbs thereby left fingerprint marks... Very disappointe but I was lucky there was a olive drab option for decals so I shifted to that instead of letting the kit go to waste.

Great work Nigel! Good save on that intrusive fingerprint...I hate when that happens

Thanks mate! I thought I was nearly done with the bird. I applied Tamiya Clear and Matte coats over it to seal the decals. Left it for nearly 2 days. Then I used oil dot filters with mineral spirits to add some variety to the basecoat.

The FINAL step should have been one last panel lining with Tamiya Enamels. Unfortunately, [auto-censored] happened. The enamel thinner lifted the paint on most of the top part of the nose and the flaps. Pretty pissed off, I elected to repaint the whole thing - and reapply some gloss to the parts to make sure they look similar. There were some parts of the plane that still looked repainted/fresh/different after but a bit of oil paint, chipping and scratches took care of that.

Here she is. I'm calling her done (though I might add some dust pigment for the wheels). Just in time for christmas! Was a relatively enjoyable build despite the (self inflicted) difficulties and bad luck. I have a BF109 and another P-51 in the stash though and I might revisit hte campaign next year if I have time. Would appreciate any constructive criticism so I can improve on my next bird!

Very nicely done Nigel! The only "issue" I see is the DF loop antenna on the spine. I'm pretty sure that was a CBI theater item only (and maybe SW Pacific), I know they didn't use them in Europe where the 357th FG saw action.

Congrats on finishing!

Would this qualify as 25% or less complete? The only change since that pic was taken is I painted the engine block black in preparation for assembling the nose. If not I have other options.

I think you're good to go with that one, Shell. Which kit is it?

It is the Dragon 109 E-4 kit. Funny thing is I also have a Spitfire in limbo, but that one is probably over 25% as I have the interior done and the wings on; I was getting ready to start masking it for exterior paint. And I have a Revell early P-51D but I need a replacement for the distorted canopy that came in the kit.

Hello all.
Some call it "going to the Darkside" but I had to break out the Bf109-G6 for this campaign Lots of goodies to choose from.
Kit is Revell's 04665 (1/32 Scale) Messerschmitt Bf109-G6.
Starting picture will follow later, first finish some shopping"

Cheers,

Wing interior is chrome (Molotow) and lights were tinted with inks on back:

Upper and lower wing half fit is quite tight, so the clear part may need little trimming. I used clamps, because didn't wan't to remove paint.

Hello Folks

This is my entry

Having built their 109 F kit last year, I hope to build this without any major issues.

The planned marking. I always had a thing for JG5 and would be my first build in their markings.

Cheers

Hey folks! I'm going to attack the stash with these three:
Airfix's 1/72 Mustang

their 1/72 Me109

and their Spitfire FMk22

Maybe I've bitten off more than I can chew, but I gotta have a go at getting the stash back to single digits!
