@ColinEDM

I'm sorry I can't help you Colin. I only build 1/72 models.
I'll ask some of my friends who make models in that scale in the weekend.

Hey Colin,

Went through my stash of Zero's and I have one that would fit your needs.

Your kit is the newer release, and oddly I noticed a bit of flash as well. Odd considering a later release of a Tamiya kit.

Be that as it may, I did a little measuring, especially the Fujimi offering, the prop was around 3 mm short, their kit is an A6M2.

Then did the same for the older Tamiya kits, the A6m2's were also a bit short. I then measured the A6M5, older version of the Tamiya kit, and it was a perfect match. Personally, I found this a bit odd given that from a manufacturing perspective it would have made sense to just leave the prop mold alone. Kudo's to Tamiya for being accurate even when you don't know they are!

Bottom line, got one for you, it's the old molding which has the spinner molded to the prop. Shouldn't be an issue from a replacement standpoint.

PM me with your mailing information, if your interested. Please note, that with MCO (Movement Control Orders), the smaller post offices are closed, not sure about the main one, though Rosie thinks yes. Also, given your in Canada and I'm in Malaysia, it may put you into a crunch for time.

That said, you're more than welcome to have it!

John

@Jose-Thanks, I'll plan to paint the white band. The problem I'll have is with getting the yellow leading edges to look the same. We'll see what I can do.
Take care and stay safe,

I'm building the 1/72 Tamiya Raiden because it was on top of the stash tote. It's probably 30 years old and no where near the standard of today's kits but.... It will be a simple thing to build

fuselage and wing sub-assembled with putty to fill the very minor gap between them. There is absolutely no cockpit detail just a pilot

NMF in place.

Now I gotta wait on some Lemon Yellow paint for the wings and figure how to deal with OLD decals.

Well, thanks to a local friend I got a replacement spinner and prop (so I'll have a spare coming in, thanks John!) and finished my A6M5 Zero.

Hi All,

Nice things going on here!

I'm calling this one done. This was straight out of the box, with exception of Eduard IJN seat belts, and some Bare Metal Foil on the oleo's of the main gear. This a wonderful kit, as are all the 1/48 Hasegawa Zero series, you really can't go wrong. And if you want you can always add ignition wires, and brake lines with no trouble. I've got a squadron in the stash, so more are sure to follow!

Iwakuni Naval Base was a site used for practice and for primary maintenance training. Therefore, any aircraft from there would be pretty pristine. So that's how I left it. Later in the war Iwakuni became a staging area for Special Unit (Kamikaze) dispersal.

This was a most enjoyable build, I hope you all enjoy!

Be safe, wash your hands, and have fun!

...after primary construction..... Again, more pre-shading experiments with the A6M2. Top/Bottom.

Paint job looks good with shading....had doubts, but the color seems good!

Bought a Silhouette Cameo 4 and have been experimenting with masks....and figured I'd stretch my experience a little with painted markings!

....and I had to rework the artwork font in Adobe Illustrator and FINALLY got the right cut so I could do the "tail number" as well. Everything here is painted....no decals, yet.
