Russ, I use MLT to thin pretty much everything now, acrylics, enamels and lacquers.

eMan, excellent progress, neat looking build so far. Any issues to report? I'm looking forward to moving forward with this one as part of my A-2a U2 dual build.

Joe, great to hear from you, such good news that you are heading home. Hopefully the recovery will continue at a good pace and you will feel up to building once again.

Cheers, D

nice progress EMan,

Joe, good to hear you're making the move homeward

Well, here I was in the process of pre-shading and suddenly realised I'd forgotten to spray the canopy first, so out with the grey!

Markings and stencils on, seriously some of the best decals I have ever applied. Nice and thin, a quick 10 second dunk in warm water then slide into place. I used a drop of Mr Mark Setter on the surface, then a drop of Mr Mark Softer after it was properly positioned. The carrier film is nice and thin and they conformed beautifully to the surface detail.

Ready now for Dullcote then some light weathering.

A couple of thins coats of Dullcote has unified the finish and mostly hidden away the edges of the decal carrier film.

Really nice detail on the undercarriage legs with separate torque links that fit together perfectly.

Locked down and secured for undercarriage assembly.

I went over the whole airframe with a highly dilute shot of Tamiya Smoke, concentrated a bit on the underside panel lines and a few lines across the top of the wings. It isn't really visible in the images, but it ties the whole scheme together and adds a bit more variation across the surfaces. Another shot of Dullcote after that, then it was crunch time, off with the masking!

The upper nose section was a very neat fit when I test dry fitted everything, I must have pushed it slightly out of alignment as it cured.

Ready now for the finishing touches, wheels, bombs, RATO pods, antennae and canopy.

A bit of a late bench session tonight, this one is completed!

A great kit, highly recommended, any errors are from my 10 thumbs, not the kit!

D, that is really good work on your 262.

I will try to see if I can get paint and decals on these (2) a/c before the deadline.

Sensational finish on V555 Damian!

Lapman, that's some sweet progress!

Ok, so, I ended up ordering the colours I needed (RLM 76 and 83) and in the end I went with enamels from the Sovereign Hobbies range of Colour coats... The reason being I decided not to go with acrylic you may ask? Well, after reviewing my stash and reviewing my paint stock it seems that I have all the paint I need to finish every kit I have in the stash

So why change now? Besides! Colourcoats spray very nicely, indeed

On with the pics...

First up, finished off some pre-shading

and application of the RLM76 Lichtblau

More soon-hopefully before the deadline

Well, this is the first time I've freehanded the airbrushing of a plane... not bad if I do say so myself... Although there are a couple of areas around the engines that will need tweaking...

Gaz, I reckon I might need an extension... All this home schooling business has seriously impeded my bench time

Damian the top colour is RLM 83 by Colourcoats

Fingers crossed I can tidy up the over spray without over spraying

Carlos,
I must apologize for missing your completion post a few weeks ago!

Your schwalbe looks fantastic. I noticed it today in the gallery and realized I hadn't added it to the completed list. So, I went back to check. I'm very sorry.

Congratulations and well done! Your Schwalbe came out perfectly.
