Wow, it has been a while. I got the lines touched-up with some silver, cleaned up the thru holes and touched them up. Finally I got the top wing painted yellow. Now on to a clear coat and decals, then the fiddly bits...

Well, it is a "Yellow Peril", just wait til I clear coat it.

Hey it was my FIRST rigged biplane and like the first biplane since like 1972. I wasn't ready for turnbuckles.

Ohoh, these two wingy thingies might be contagious. I was at a local thrift shop and this jumped right off the shelf into my hands.

Oh noes. I thought I was ready to start decaling the beastie, A close look at the instruction sheet Shows that the rudder should be painted Blue, not yellow..

I guess that I'll have to clip the rigging, re drill the holes, mask, paint, re run the rigging, fill the holes and touch up the paint.

Mark,

Go for that Aurora F4B-4!!

I had it, the K&B re-release, years ago and started it, even started putting styrene in the cockpit. Then I had to move cross-country and I don't know where it ended up.

AVENGE ME (it??)!!

I look forward to your model!

OK, I fixed the rudder paint and re wired the tail plane.
Started on decals.

Revell decals, printed in Italy. They might be a bit thick but they snug down nice with Micro Sol and Micro Set. They doe take a while to float off of the backing.

I'm really impressed about how well the fuselage stripe wraps around and matches up on top and bottom.

Still have a few more decals and some fiddly bits left.

Mark! It is starting to come alive now! Good decal work, I always run into trouble when handling big decals, not to mention the kind of wraparound like the one on the fuselage.

OOPS, I tried to panel line the fuel tank. That didn't work so well, so I tried to repaint the center of the top. Looks like I used Chrome Yellow over Insignia Yellow top wing.

I'll have to try again with Insignia yellow.

Or perhaps the ground crew got the wrong colour out of Stores when they touched up the messy repairs to that fuel tank?

LOL, a case of extreme weathering.
Thanks, but I've made so many subtle mistakes on this kit, I'd like to make the big stuff look good.
