Thanks for the comments Gents. The Struts were fine to add in this Kit but have had problems with other ones before. Chuck the Base is an after market item from a Guy here in Australia....Cheers Mark

1/700! Wow!

I still get shivers when I think about it!

But you're doing a great job Mark, and handling it very nicely!

Nice kit Mark, doing a great job with the extra detail at that scale too.

They made an interesting carrier with the funky exhaust and the big clean deck area. Good luck with the rest of the build.

After a bout of pneumonia and a stint in hospital I've finally recovered to the point of being able to catch up with all the goings on over here at the MSW dockyards!

And Mark, Akagi is looking mighty fine!

Mark,

Very nice work on those decals. Did you installed the long ones in sections or as a single piece. If you did them in a single piece, hats off to getting them straight.

Mark: If you don't mind me asking what brand of paint and color selection did you use on the wooden portion of the flight deck? I have tried several different brands and colors over the years and have never been truly satisfied with any of them, but your Akagi seems to be just what I am looking for.

By the way your model is very impressive. Well done. If there is anything I dread painting more than a boot top, it is the flight deck of Japanese carriers.

Chuck,

I used Vallejo Model and Model air paints. The colors are Bluff, Sandy Brown, Dark Brown, Mahogany, Pale Sand, Natural Wood, Wood, Flat Black and Flat White. Also used MIG wash for wood to help highlight the grooves between the planks.

Thanks Mark, that is the second best news I have had all day, the first being that my home town team won the World Series for the first time in ninety five years.

I love Vallejo paints. Off to the hobby shop tomorrow, snow permitting, to stock up on the colors you listed.

Thanks Mark. The main Markings were in one Piece so I sliced it into 4 at an angle to make alignment easier.....Cheers mark

Mate I used Tamiya Wooden Deck Tan XF-78 for the Base . She has been Gloss Coated for the Decals and Reglossed for some weathering to come......Cheers Mark
