This weekend's progress.

On the vent boxes like this one with no portholes I could miss out the grill, but by fixing it to the inside of the hatch, hleps getting the lid on square.

Fitting the fairleads, one slight issue with the deck, gaps.

The re-enforcing woodwork covers up the gaps.

All the fairleads, scuppers the base for aft capstan, and the cable holders in place.

Final job on the fo'c's'le, grills over the hawse pipes.

More soon.

Cheers

Thanks Gaz,

The larger scale does allow more depth in the level detail, especially when aided by the Pontos detail set.

Appreciate you looking in Mate.

Thanks Russ,

They do add something, still surprises me how big an effect small parts can have on the overall look of a model.

Thanks for looking in.

Real life has seriously got between me and the workshop, but some small progress.

The remaining parts for the quarter deck.

Some holes need drilling to take the cable holders and the circular hatch.

The hatches and remaining equipment in place.

I will be at Southern Expo this weekend, so there is not likely to be much if any progress for a week or so.

Cheers

Si

Thanks Jan,

The Pontos stuff is very good indeed, and the turn parts lift the details too.

Finally on with some structure at last.

Test fitting the superstructure parts.

No real issues.

The 3" gun ports before removing some moulded on detail.

Brass steps and brackets for the stream anchor fitted.

Brass fitted to the interior bulkheads, and the last two vent / skylights.

Everything sprayed off white.

Fixed in place.

an overview with the fore and aft Bridges test fitted.

the 3" guns and gangways next.

Cheers

Si

Agree, those ocean liners did have a lot of vents and they just about disappeared on liners built in the 30s.

Hi Mark,

They didn't so much disappear, they changed shape, like the big square vents on the original Queen Mary, or like the modern vessels where they are louvres built into the sides of the engine casing,

Do like the old fashion style though.

Thanks for looking in Mate.

Thanks Mark,

I like the colour contrasts of the cowls, with just a hint of red showing through the grills.
