Starting the second set of cage aerials.

Soon decided it was time for a change. Ground tackle.

The kit only provided two anchors, three are needed. two will be stowed in the hawse pipes, and one will be on the base as if the ship was anchored. To overcome the shortage, some North star spares were used.

The shape seems better than the kit parts.

The two going in the stowed position in the hawse pipes built.

Painted and washed.

Very nicely detailed.

Anchor cables being added.

Done.

The anchors added, the stbd Anchor will be the one that she is anchored by.

along with a little weathering.

A couple of the quarter boats also under construction.

Cheers

Si

Si,

Nice work on those anchors but you may want to streak the rust stains more, they look painted on and vary the color.

Thanks Mark,

Looking at the pictures, and the model again, you are right, I will see what I can do about it.

Always appreciate constructive criticism. The washes can be tricky, but some darker browns in the, and more care applying washes might help.

Cheers

They aren't as difficult as they look,

Etched spreaders are the trick, WEM produce a set that would help, apart from the Pontos dreadnought I don't know any others.

Si,

once again I apologize for a long silence - I really missed a lot here and on your other builds.

She looks simply great and I continue to admire your copper works (aka rigging) and the cage aerials! Great work!!

Cheers,
Jan

Thanks Jan,

I do have a bit of a thing about pre-dreadnoughts. I will admit I am getting a bit tired of cage aerials, will be glad to get the last pair done.

Appreciate you looking in Mate.

Cheers

Si

A bit of progress this week,

After Mark's (d6mst0) correct and constructive comments about the rust staining, I have taken his advise on board. the rust stippled with a couple of darker shades or orange & brown.

I think a light stipple round the etdges with hull colours that will be about right.

Cage aerial's coming on abit further, will be glad to get these finished.

More soon.

Cheers

The last of the cage aerials.

all wired up and getting shaped ready for fitting.

And finally fitted.

Final tidy up on the rust stains on the bow.

An overview.

Only rigging left is on the net booms, and I have something in mind for them.

Thanks Russ,

I am just glad that bit is done. I am quite pleased with the overall effect.

I am also glad I have nothing else planned in the foreseeable future with Cage aerials.

Thank you Mark,

The cage aerials were more tedious than difficult, and I am both pleased with the way they turned out, and even more pleased that they are done.

Quite a way to go yet Russ,

She will sit above a base, with an anchor down, the net booms extended and the nets ready to be deployed. (an excuse to do some more rigging

Done.

The Admiral's walk finished.

The North Star RN Figures arrived.

Should be enough here for the deploying of the nets.
