Hi Phil, happy new year!

That's 10 enthusiasts of boats with wings. I shall be formulating an official request this evening and we will see if we can make it fly.

and speaking of down-under, another relevant pic - I recently learned that the RAAF operated several Do.24s during the war

Howdy Y'all
I wouldn't mind giving Hasegawa's Marlin another shot. Count me in! My dad flew in them in the 50's and he would love one built for him. I should've built him one years ago.
Thanks,
Don "Lakota"

The Dutch operated also Dornier 24s (K version). This is one is on display in the excellent Dutch Military Museum on the former Soesterberg Airforce Base.

Italeri has a kit in 1/72, which is a T and converting it to a K is a lot (too much) work unfortunately....

Jonathan, that's the Savoia Marchetti S-55X. I have the Delta2 1/72 scale kit of this unique aircraft-- but the kits a real dog. A couple of years ago, Glencoe released a repop of the old box scale (Hawk?) kit, which is also a real dog. I might build my 1/72 scale kit if I can work up enough courage to tackle this kit--- it makes me shudder every time I look at it! I still haven't figured out an easy way to post photos either. Italo Balbo, Air Marshall of Italy, led a flight of 24 of these unique boats to New York in 1933. The cockpit is actually over the wing, with passengers riding in the hulls. If I can work it in and figure out how to post-- I might be in.

Hi Russ, that's too bad the only available kits of the S55 are "challenging". Some kits are really best left on the shelf

There was also a tri-motor twin hull Savoia , the S66

Is the Canadair (Viking Air) CL215 or CL415 water bombers included in this build?

I just received a challenge to build the S-55X for an upcoming display here in the NW, and its required to be finished by March 2017. So I need to get cracking now. Therefore, I won't be able to participate in here, but if it's Ok and allowable, I might post some photos.
