Revells big 1/144 USS Fletcher with Eduard BigEd, Aber barrels abd G-Factor brass props, finished in Measure 12 Mod' with Stynylres, Lifecolor and Vallejo acrylics, weathered with AK Interactive products and artists oils.
I invested the time to 'oil can' the hull (about 12 months on and off) but once that rather tedious job was finished the rest came together in a couple of months.

Looks beautiful and the time and effort were very worthwhile. Thank you for sharing.

Amazing work. I have that kit in the stash and can't wait to give it a shot. Any advice you have is greatly appreciated

Thanks Russ, Joe and David.

There were no real gotcha's to look out for, just a few seams and ejector pin marks to clean up. The ejector pin marks I mostly filled with punched disks of thin styrene sheet.

Bernard,
That's one beautiful Fletcher! I especially like the "oil canning" effect - that must have been a lot of work. Did you take any in-progress pics?

Hi Tim, the oil canning was rather tedious and it took me a year working on and off, I'd do an inch or two and put it down due to cramps, I mostly used a 4mm chisel I purchased from Micro Mark. There are a heap of WiP shots at the following facebook album,

Thank you, I used mostly Ezy Line for the rigging.

Ahoy Bernard

Very nice indeed.

What was your opinion of the Eduard "Big Ed" set?

Were the Aber barrels worth getting in your opinion?

Cheers

Hi Sean, the Eduard set is well worth the investment and the Aber barrels are a class ahead of the kit barrels.

You won't regret it, the etch alone is worth it for the rails and radar antennas.

Very Nicely Done:

The subtle weathering is nice, not overly done, just right. The Fletcher's were very attractive and this is a very attractive model.

Wonderful! Look very convincing!

Too bad I don't have enough room for these large scale items...
