I have the Pioneer Tools all temporarily mounted just to place the clasps and hold downs.
The tools are from one of Trumpeters 1/16th. Panzer kits.

They don't give you the antenna mount and spare antenna storage tube.

I have some small detailing left then it's on to the paint shop.

The Block test fitted.

I think it looks a lot better than the molded on block.
That's all for now.

I have a little more detail work done.

The Tail Light, 4 Pe. parts here.

I've decided to replace the molded on Jack Block, here is how I did it.

Just caught this thread now, Donald.

Your work is great and you are adding a lot of detail to that kit.

I'll keep watching with interest!

Here is how the Pe. mount looks in place.

The instructions don't give any sizes for the extinguisher, so I'm going to leave the mount empty.

Finished for now.

Now for the Fire Extinguisher , The one in the kit looks a little small.

Here is the Engine Air intake, at least that's what I think it is.
The kit has a blank place where this goes.

I wonder if there is suposed to be screening under it?

To install it I laid out where it looks like it should go, and drilled around the edges.

I used the cable ends from one of Trumpeters 1/16th. Panzer kits.

They will be fastened down permanently once everything is painted.
That's all for now.

I finally have the Tow Cable hold downs finished and installed.
First the finished parts, I filled them with plastic so I could fasten them down with regular glue.
Did I mention I hate Photo etch ?

Here is what the kit tow cable looks like.
I think it's way too thick, and there's no hold downs on the section over the engine deck.

Here are my version of the cables.

in the Squadron book see pic below.
The turret in the kit mostly resembles the Interum turret, as there's no pistol port on the left side. I wonder how many they made this way?

Ah, I see.
Well, in all my years of looking at Tigers, I have seen that "interim" turret on exactly ONE tank.
But, to be fair, it's not possible to tell unless you see it from above. So there could have been quite a few of them.

I have the small track change cable installed.

I hope I got it on in the right way. My information shows it this way and not both ends of the cable to the rear.
At least this is how the instructions in the Pe. set have it.

Why add the close-defence weapon? These "mid" Tigers didn't have one.

David

Hi David, I was just going by the pics. in the Squadron book see pic below.
The turret in the kit mostly resembles the Interum turret, as there's no pistol port on the left side. I wonder how many they made this way?

I removed the close in weapon defence port from an old 1/16th. king tiger turret.

The lone upper track holder is slightly bent down as I don't have a track link for this position.

I hope I got everything in the reght position, well if not it's where it will be staying.

Now to the upper Hull.

I have the Turret finished, I don't think that I've forgotten anything that goes on it.
You should remove the weld mark that runs across the top.

The Pe Hasps and locks were really a pain in the back side to do.

I scratch built a lifting point on the rear of the turret, none is supplied with the kit.

There's a big difference between the new and the kit spares.

Here is how they look test fitted, the final install will be after the painting.

I think I'll finish up the turret then go back to the hull.

You will need to drill each of the bottom mounts for a pin that fits into the new spare track.

Like this below.

Now, this is how I did the spare track mounts for the sides of the turret.
I'm afraid I got this a little out of sequence .
After removing the upper mounting parts from the kit spare track I did as follows.

This is what the kit Turret spare track looks like.

I cut each one here.

And here

Now I filled the mounting holes in the hull top.
