Chris Another beautiful build. Sure you can fix the canopy mess. I used self adhesive aluminum foil on my 1/72 Schwalbe as there was also no frame.

As I said in the proposal, I´ll try to handle this Hudson from Revell. Many clear parts and a lot of grey styrene

Just a short update on the B-25B. I've got the fuselage together, as well as both wings and the engine nacelles. Now the fun starts with sanding, filling, sanding, priming, sanding, etc.

Then Brian (B-17F build), got into a discussion as to what all the flying surfaces were really made of, which directly effects their color. Karl provided his usual expertise to settle the issue. All flying surfaces during WW11 were fabric covered, with leading edges being formed from metal. Same goes for all the trim tabs.

A quick question.

Would you consider the He177 as a twin or a quad??

Unfortunately I would have to say no to the He 177. There were definitely 4 powerplants there, it was just the configuration of having them paired up in common nacelles that gave the impression of a huge twin-engine airframe.

The four engined He277 was a much better idea but the Luftwaffe planners could see no need for a strategic bomber in a European war.

Hello fellow modellers,
finally got some update to the Do-17... or should I rather say: I finally got things started

The kit is well detailed, and definitely work on it is much better than my previous experience with old(er) Airfix kits.

I worked on cockpit and got the things almost done there.




Interior was painted with Gunze Sangyo H70 - RLM02 while for details I used H68 (RLM74). Crew was painted with various Vallejo paints (which were also used to paint some gauges I could find reference for). All was followed by "scratches" and kind of drybrushing with silver paint from new Vallejo metalizers series and weathered with Games Workshop Agrax Earthshade wash.

All seemed nice and easy, but fitting both halves of the hull together showed that either I did something wrong with fitting crew on their seats or there's something wrong with the kit. The pilot couldn't fit in together with the guy next to him (was it a bombardier?). So I had to do a terrible thing and the one of the crewmembers became a brave armless one (well one leg got shorter too ). At least now they sorta fit all

That's all for now. Next I will focus on finishing the interior parts and find out how much filler I need to get The Do looking like one aircraft.

Started work on the HP Hampden unfortunately an Airfix kit from either the late 60s or early 70s. The detail is a bit sparse and the surface detail too heavy, but the shape is OK and kits are not too bad so far.

Building oob, don't have time to improve this as much as it needs. Sub Assemblies are a good way to go and reflect the full size practice on this aircraft.

Good wing/Fuselage joint on top, no filler

Not so good underneath, but not bad. Wing tabs were too think to go into the slots in the fuselage, removed the tabs on the bottom wing half and it was fine. Fuse doesn't quite meet at the rear of the bomb bay, to be filled with sheet plastic.

Canopy is a fairly good fit, as are cowlings, temporarily fitted for painting

Time to start my entry to this campaign:

Radek, fine job on the interior paintwork, and the surgery. I'm sure the crew member will recover fully while you work on the major assembly stages.

Andrew, good start on the Hampden. The gaps don't look great but should be an easy fix.

Richard, looking forward to progress on the big Beau. Opening the box is a good start!

Here's a challenge for you Richard! I don't like referring folks here to "Hypertension" but a mate of mine built this diorama a few years back using Revell 1/32 Beaufighters and his own resin conversions, and a bunch of 1/35 vehicles and figures.

I've seen that particular diorama Damian and it looks just great. The major problem with the Revell kit is the severe lack of interior detail. I've got the Lodella kit to build a 1/32 Beaufighter TFX with vac form tail planes, canopies, torpedo and photo-etch for the interior. I'll be getting some masks for the markings of 489 Squadron RNZAF (I hope) so I'll be putting up a build log of it at some point. I've got the resin hedgehog exhausts as well and they look fantastic!
