I'm happy to jump in and lead this one, but I'm not going to commit to a build as I have a couple of other things brewing in the same time frame.

I really enjoyed leading the Zerstorer Campaign and I have a soft spot for the twin engine designs.

Cheers, D

Excellent Damian, thanks! If you could do up a quick description and set of rules and submit them to me, I'll get it approved. Would you all rather start in November or December?

Hello Damian, thank You for taking the lead. Sorry to bother You immediately, but I got this question.

Quoted Text

Got a Do 17 from Airfix in my stash and a Do 335 from Revell, both in 1/72. But, is the Do 335 a real twin? Its got two engines, but they are installed in a serial and not parallel way .

Can You help me?

I second Damian as a non-building campaign leader and I have so many twins to build it's nothing short of ridiculous!

Hi Oliver in my humble opinion it has two props so it's a twin what do the rest of you think? And my preference is as late as possible this year, but hey that's just me.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys, I will take the reins until Pricklehead shows up again, and if he doesn't you will be stuck with me right through. I'm just sorry I can't build one of my P-61 or 110 or 262 or P-38 or . . . . . Never mind, you get the picture.

Oliver, no problems with the Do335, definitely counts in my book!

Michael, I will draw up the rules and regs and post them here later today for comment and submit to you ASAP. I am happy for either a November or December start, whatever fits best.

Jessica, That one will certainly stand out in the gallery!

Cheers, D

@Jess: Great choice Jess! Could you please enlighten me as to the make and model? I think it's the AT-17 Bobcat (Cessna T-50) in Canadian markings? Which would make it a Crane MkI?

@Matt: Matt as long as you're building it as a Zwilling we're all good! LOL

Prezactly! The Cessna Crane, also known as the Witchita Wobbler, Bamboo Bomber and other, less printable names.

Ok folks, here's my take on this Campaign:

1. Any scale, it just has to be a Twin Engine aircraft that flew in World War II. Props, Jets, Rockets, or combinations of these powerplant types all welcome.
2. Minimum of 2 progress shots must be posted in the official campaign thread plus a minimum of one shot of the completed build in the campaign gallery.
3. Hangar Queens are welcome (subject to approval by Campaign Admin), because they belong on the shelf, not hidden away in a box!
4. Build can be OOB, or use as much AM as you like.
5. Build as many kits as you wish, but only 1 ribbon will be awarded per person.
6. Dioramas encouraged, but not required.
7. Most important rules of any AussieReg Campaign, have fun, enjoy your build, share your progress with us all.

Time frame is November or December start, whichever fits best with the higher powers, and 6 month duration.

We have loads of options here folks. Trainers, Fighters, Bombers, Recce, Seaplanes and Flying Boats, Transports, Prototypes and Experimentals, no doubt others that have evaded my brainbox right now!

Interested parties at this stage are as follows:
Pricklehead (Stephen)
MichaelSatin (Michael)
Scribbles101 (Simon)
macotra4 (Tom)
md72 (Mark)
Merlin (Rowan)
29Foxtrot (Rob)
AussieReg (Damian - perhaps)
Tinbanger (Richard)
Bigrip74 (Bob)
iflytb20 (Raj)
Beauslx (Robert)
rochaped (Pedro)
North4003 (Brent)
Lakota (Don)
c4willy (Chris)
windysean (Sean)
Mascharius (Jan)
Joel_W (Joel)
Antilles (Oliver)
Jessie_C (Jessica)

That's a great start, please let me know once you decide what you will build and I will start filling out my standard Build Status/Roll Call sheet.

I will give this a couple of days for you all to digest and make any comments or suggestions then submit to admin to make us official.

Cheers, D

After a careful search through the stash database I've decided on something a little different. Airfix's Do217E-4 and Me328 Mistel, however I have the Encore Me328 pulse jet upgrade kit and I'm going to use that to replace the kit offering. They are both the same basic kit but Encore have provided lots of lovely resin in the form of a cockpit, pulse jets, control surfaces and landing skid. It should be a fairly unique build and should test my skills nicely.

Twin twins Chris, very nice indeed. BTW you still only get 1 ribbon!

Lol D ol' buddy as if!

Do we have a review of the Encore kit and if not do we need one? I thought this match up would prove to be more visually interesting and quirky. However although the Me328 did some glider trials the pulse jet version was only on paper, so my question is this can I use the kit or must I stick with the one that actually flew?

I'm reasonably confident that the Do217 flew, so we can award the ribbon based on that alone.

With regards to the Zwilling that you mentioned earlier, I was looking at the 1/72 109 Zwilling kit and did some googling. Apparently there were 4 variants planned but only one machine built, and somebody dropped a bomb on it before it even got a chance to fly! How inconsiderate.

Hi Martin, welcome aboard and thanks for joining in!

I have submitted the proposal officially with a December 1 start date, Michael will no doubt set up the Campaign page and Gallery and link them up here once he is done.

Here is an update of interested parties along with the kits that have been put forward so far. This is what my Roll Call/Build Status post will look like, I traditionally put this up as the second post in the official campaign thread and keep it updated throughout the build period.

This campaign has been approved! If you want to sign up, go here. It will run from 1 December, 2015 through 1 June, 2016 since we have a lot of campaigns running right now and none in the pipeline to start after November. This should give folks time to finish up what they have now and get ready to rock on twins!

Thank Michael, I'm sure the start date will allow folks to get prior commitments out of the way to focus on this Campaign as a way to see out 2015 and bring in the new year!

Ok folks, sign up when you can and start posting up pics of kits and aircraft of interest, let's get this Double Trouble rolling.

And yes, if you were wondering, I took the opportunity to make a subtle tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan, one of the best ever, left us way too soon.
