Tamiya 1/48 F-51D
Still plugging away...
My air compressor decided to die unexpectedly today so now I need to get another before I can do any painting. Fortunately I was done with my work when it happened.
I decided to experiment with some of the techniques in my Aircraft Scale Modeling F.A.Q.
and am pleased with the results. I need to fine tune some aspects of post-shading Alclad NFM but I like how it came out. I did the base coat of overall aircraft aluminum with some panels picked out in duraluminum and steel around the exhausts. Then I used one of the books ideas and took Tamiya Smoke to different areas and some panel lines. It gives it the impression of some wear on the different panels, and I think it made it much more interesting.
I did similar Smoke detailing on the two piece spinner, and still need to finish detailing the landing gear, props, rockets and drop tanks.
I like the effects but I need to practice them some more.
