Hi Sean.
I did use a pencil on this one.
The cockpit is flat black and I do not include pilots in my aircraft builds,there is a seat back but no seat frame!.
I think AMT should stick to model cars, if I had known how poor the kit was I would have left it at the hobby store
Once the camo is on and it is at the very back of my display case all will be well!

I started the cockpit and nose wheel area and botched it, notice the white plastic stock in place where I cut off the piece of material that was meant to be.

Oh No! I thought it was part of the sprue. I have also been there and done that. How about gluing the part on the wrong side or backwards. Then finding out during the next step when the main assembly doesn't fit.

While assembling the cockpit (4 pieces) I noticed that I had glued a piece incorrectly, but quickly pull them apart let the glue dry then correctly placed the pieces together Alls well now. I am actually having fun with this kit (something that I have not done in a while).

I had more time to play around some and was able to assemble a little more on the Vampire.




Getting the twin booms aligned was a little intimidating to me and I put it off for a little while, but everything came out ok so far.

Mike, I have to change kits. I was looking over the Sabre dog and couldn't find the canopy. I have looked the kit over several times in the last few years and lost or misplaced it. So I would like to switch to a Special Hobby F86H if thats OK. If not let me know I have other options.

Here's my Vampire, not as far along as Bob's but getting there. I have test fitted the tail booms and they look like they should fit well. So far I like this kit alot.

My 20 month old grandaughter helped me today! thus the Q tip stuck in the intake LOL!:-

@Thomas: that's a good looking airplane. Are you going to use the kit supplied scheme? Rather catchy!

@John: your vamp is coming along nicely as for the booms I did worry about the alignment, but it was not as bad as I thought that it would be. BTW I used Tamiya Extra Thin which seems to do a good on them.

@Richard: don't you just love what those little grandbabies do especially when they imitate us?

The Airfix Gloster Meteor III is my entry for First Generation Fighters. The kit is near first generation too!

Just got going on the He. 280, with a bit of preliminary painting.





It's going to be in more of 'what if' operational camouflage using markings from an Me 262 kit.

Made a bit of progress on the 280, though I accidentally ended up buying enamel paints when I meant to get acrylic for the camouflage.

Once I manage to finish my Hellcat hangar queen from the Grumman campaign, I'll be on board with a P-80A. I'm going to see if I can turn the Hobby Boss kit into something resembling a YP-80.

My New Year's Resolution of One-Kit-At-A-Time might actually let me finish a campaign for a change!

1/48 Hobby Boss F-80A as Project Extraversion

Okay, so here is what I am working with:

The kit has a few shape issues, but I like it and think it should make a fun project. I am not sure if I am going with A or B yet, I need to source some letter codes first.

Here it is, I hope to get started on this:

After being down with the flu for a week I finally got into the workshop last night and washed the sabre hog had a lot of mold release. Starting today.

Both of my current workbench projects are nearly complete. The He. 280 and the Me. 262 can be seen here resting as their landing gears' cement sets.



Minus painting on the canopy, the Heinkel is finished. A couple of views of it:

I have the Vampire glued together and have pre shaded the panel lines.

John, now your ahead of me looks like I need to follow your progress to help me out. I still am miffed about the NMF under surface, I had thought of a scheme without the NMF.
