Wow! Great build, Jeff. Great looking camouflage and lightly worn/faded look. Well done!

Lapman, nice progress! Looking forward to see the camouflage and markings on.

Eduard 1/48 P-400 Limited Edition

All finished! I think this may be one of the fastest builds I have done, start to finish in I think seven weeks? I am pretty happy with the end result. I may go back and tweak some of the decals with a spot of Solvaset. The pictures show a little silvering in a spot or two that isn't actually as obvious in person, but it is there.

My only real complaint to myself is the Bell Green isn't near dark enough, it looks much more like Interior Green. I realized that after I had joined the fuselage up, so there was no going back to repaint the cockpit. I also forgot to mount the photo etch mirror and the ring sight before gluing the canopy on, but oh well.

This was a challenging build for me due to needing to fill so many gaps, but she came out looking good in the end. I am calling this one done, with 2 days in the campaign to spare!

Paul,

Awesome, that looks great.
I need some lessons on how to take better pictures of my models. those close-ups are so clear.

Maybe the issue is I only have a small digital camera and just don't know how to use it properly.

Is yours an SLR digital or one of the slim sure shots like mine?

Chris,
Are you doing a Tauro kit as well?
They are a bit of a challenge if I do say so. I glad I only had one of their kits. My other 2 Macchi's are Hasegawa's.
a M302 and M305.
Yeah I wish I had better exhausts as well. But I hollowed them out and made do.

Go luck and I can not wait to see it.

I use a Canon PowerShot SX600 HS and a tripod for most of my pics. For some close-ups I skip the tripod and shoot freehand with the zoom making sure I don't cast a shadow by getting too close. It isn't anything crazy, just a good compact camera with an 18x digital zoom. The tripod is for my spotting scope, but works great with a camera as well.

I feel the homemade photo booth helps picture quality a lot. I built the booth following the tips in the photography thread here at Aeroscale. I think I shelled out maybe $20 to build it.

Hi Jeff not for this campaign but I've had one on the go for quite a while now here are some pics of her. I couldn't get the machine guns to fit properly and the engine and wing spars were problematic. my fault for not being a little more careful with the construction I think. The kit was also quite thin and ill cast in places as well which added to the issues I was having.

Well, the calendar tells me it is nearly April and this GB is coming to an end.

There have been more than 20 models built! Hats off, and thumbs up to everyone who participated.

I would like to remind everyone to post the requisite photos in the GB gallery

Chris,

Nice looking Macchi! It looks like you were actually able to get the engine cover to sit down nicely. Mine needed a lot of persuading. Nice coloring as well I am thinking of doing one for late war ANR as well......This yours just gave me more motivation....

Hi again

Some great finished builds! Really nice work everyone!

I'm still aiming to complete my Reppu, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to get much, if any, time at the workbench this week, so I'll miss the deadline by a country mile.

All the best

I am calling this build done.
I did not follow Silver Wings colour call out for this build, I used the IPMS Stockholm referance for the Gloster Gladiator MkII of 247 Squadron ,November 1940.
This Mk II used a MkI 2-blade prop, 247 Sq operated Gladiators throughout the Battle of Britain:-

^^^Brush painted? Or did you use a hard mask?

My build came a bit off the track - I pulled a dumb and didn't get the fuse halves lined up properly. I've been sanding and filling. Now I'm scribing and then will be painting. On time for the deadline.

Well, I can't believe that this GB is over. Thanks to all who participated. There are many obscure, overshadowed fighters represented by the excellent builds. Nulli Secundus!

First out of the blocks, and first to finish and post images in the GB gallery was Pricklehead with his superb Dewitoine D.520. Well done.

I must also highlight the notable participation of Bushioka who started and completed three models -a Reggiane Re 2000 (in captured RAF markings), a Fokker D-XXII, and an Avia B-35.

By noting the above, I do not mean to diminish the superb work and participation of anyone else. I urge everyone to check out the GB Gallery for the completed models.

Here is the list -

Pricklehead - Dewitoine D.520
Cannon99 - Polikarpov I-16
Tinbanger - Gloster Gladiator Mk. 2
eMan - Heinkel He-112b
PeeJay - P-400 Air-a-cutie
Bushioka - Re 2000, Fokker D.XXII, and Avia B-35
BoiseBlade - Maachi 205 Veltro
scribbles101 - Gloster Sea Gladiator
oraora - Westland Whirlwind
c4willy' - P-39Q
SGTJKL - Polikarpov I-16
Bink123 - Avia B.534 series III

Salutations, Bink123

Hi Richard my thanks for a great campaign and a truly interesting idea. Many interesting builds and a great array of techniques on display. Always interesting to see how others do it and glean ideas to improve and refine your own processes. My thanks to all who participated and the information and help provided.

I have awarded campaign ribbons to all those who have posted photos of their models in the GB gallery.

Thanks to all who have participated.

I will review the caampaign thread to see if i have missed anyone

BTW - if any participants haven't posted their brief description of their subject (development, service and why it has been overshadowed) please do so.

Hi Richard

Many thanks for a really enjoyable campaign with some great entries! I'm annoyed with myself that I left starting my build too late to finish in time, but I'll post pics of my Reppu here when I do trundle home eventually.

All the best

I'm more annoyed than you - I joined this as my first group build. I misread the end date as being the end of April.

Howdy Y'all

I'm more annoyed than all of you. LOL! I enlisted then un-enlisted and never got started. Too bad, this was a cool campaign. I hope there's a Part II in the future.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"
