Has there been a campaign for the Lockheed P-38, if not would enough people be interested?

Thoughts:
1. all versions
2. would include the xp-59.
3. what ifs also

The P-38 is certainly a wonderful subject. If a dedicated campaign doesnt fly, by all means bring it along to the LOCKHEED campaign scheduled for May of next year.

There has not been a P-38 campaign here before, but there was a twin-boom campaign in 2010.

For future reference, Here is a page showing all Aeroscale campaigns past and present

Jonathan, thanks for the information. If this is not of interest I will just pop over to the Lockheed campaign.

Is it too late to start taking it apart?

Great idea Bob. I think I have two P-38's in the stash, a Heller/Airfix and a DML. I needed an excuse to tackle another twin boom plane...

Allen, what % is it at? Besides if this is approved it would not be for a while I am sure.

Bob,
With the number of pending campaigns, you're realistically looking at the end of 2015 or even early 2016. When I got the Grumman Campaign approved, we had a 7 month wait from approval to start date.

Honestly, I think that just joining the Lockheed Campaign would be the logical thing to do. Just not sure if there would be enough interest in a single aircraft campaign.

Joel, I know what you mean. The Fighter/Bomber campaign was scheduled a year ahead, but that gave me time to look or rather determine on what build to do and to reflect on the list we put up. It became a monster.

As to the P-38 campaign idea the time does not matter, I just wondered if there was enough interest and time will tell.

Actually, I'd be interested! I have other Lockheeds I can build and I love the -38!

Mark, in your words. How do the two kits compare?

Michael, you seem a little bit like me. A glutten for too many builds.

Hmmm, bad timing. I'm about 12,000 miles away from the stash right now. I've heard that DML stands for Damn Made Lousy, so I'm cautious, and the Humbrol/Airfix kit is one of those 'starter' kits with the dried out paint pots, a brush and a tiny tube of 'glue'. So I'm not expecting a shake and bake out of either kit.

Mark, if distance becomes boring at any time take a look at the two and give us a run down (not a comparison article) just what you think of the two stacked up. Any way how is the weather there?

That's 6 or 7 so far: (I suspect a late 2015 or early 2016 goal to shoot for)

JUST A LITTLE TEASER FOR THOSE WHO LIKE THE P-38.

Hot, humid. Think Houston or Miami. Even when it rains.

That makes 8 now:

To correct the mistake earlier that I made here is the idea progession for the P-38 and the 3 developments (P-38. P-49, P-58)I had stated P-59 incorrectly.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
I love the "Gabelschwanzteufel" P-38!
I already will build a Lightning for the Lockheed Campaign next year, but I have so many Academy kits in my stash - and all versions except Night Lightning - that I can build 2 in a year. I have also tons of P-38 decals ....
You can count me in anytime.

Torsten: thanks for pitching in. Love your builds and will look forward to what you bring to the campaign as do the others. Cant wait to see everyone's build progress photos which give me insights on how to tackle a problem in a different manner.

We are 10 now, I will now submit the campaign proposal for late 2015 or probably early 2016 will be the prospective date.
