Looking really good. Awesome to see some more progress!

Thanks Rory! She's been a long and tedious build for sure, but it's nice to be in the home straight with her

Thanks Tim! Yep, I know what you mean, it's really frustrating waiting for these parts, but on the other hand it gives me an opportunity to work on some other projects (IE the STASH) that have been neglected for far too long.

Agree, a quality base is what makes a ship model "pop" when done in a museum style build.

Great progress towards the finish. The King looks majestic!

A downer that NorthStar no longer ship to this part of world so I hope you can get your parts soon.

cheers

Thanks Michael! Too right brother! It's a real shame they won't send stuff out here anymore as it was always pretty good-oh well. We'll make do

Good to see you back on the forum mate

KGV's on a bit of hiatus at the moment whilst I wait for Northstar to send the Pom Pom directors.

Also got the relo's over for the next few weeks as well, so there'll be little chance of any bench time at all.

Russ,

sorry for being so slow and sloppy with my commenting these days - well mate, at least you know why .

NorthStar is even more sloppy, still...

But your King is really looking royal - fantastic clean and crisp work, worth every hour you spent on her. Just awesome!!

Cheers,
Jan

Its all good mate. Appreciate you dropping by when you can

Honestly, Northstar have no excuse and are just sloppy these days. No fault of yours of course.

The relos are visiting from CZ at the moment so I'm taking a bit of a break from the bench. After they head home, I'm thinking I'll finish up the Trans Am, then if still no sign of the Pom Poms from Northstar, I'll finish up the clear coats and rigging on the KGV and just mount the Pom Pom directors to the KGV when they arrive

Well, I think I've waited long enough for Northstar, who still have not yet stumped up the Pom-Pom directors.

To that end, I've come to a decision to butcher up some spare directors of a different Mark, to roughly resemble the ones that were fitted to the KGV as of 1941...

So, watch this space

Hi Mate,

too sad about NorthStar, no word or sign of life from them with regards to the PomPom directors...

Looking forward to see your King crossing the finish line, though!

Cheers

What Jan said mate,

I have given up buying from North Star direct, I tend go for a third party vendor, and only order what they have in stock.

Cheers

Hi Jan! I too am eager to get her over the finishing line. It was good to get back on the tools last night and work on ship related items, whilst I wait for an opportunity to spray the Trans Am. Certainly do miss my ships, mate!

You and me both Si And order double what you need, mate! Given the attrition rate at which I was able to build 2 of the 4 director sets I have available last night, it's always wise to have spares on hand!

So far of the 8 I've attempted 4 have gone either into the carpet monster or been crumpled during construction. That's a pretty high reject rate by anyone's standard, but gee, gosh darn it, the parts are just so small and fiddly!

Pity about the supply problems, good luck with the workaround, I'm sure it will work out OK.

Work around successful!

I've adapted the late model pom pom directors by cutting off the supports for radar antenna. The only other difference between the late and early is a missing seat from the late, but it's not likely anyone will be able to pick it.

As mentioned before I find when I'm building this really small stuff from Northstar, I always start with double the amount required, as I get a 50% reject rate. And here's the causalities. Sure, it's a bit more expensive, but at least I'll know if I'm covered!

More close ups of the survivors.

Commissioning will be this year for certain!

Thanks to everyone for looking in and sticking by, what has been a very long build cycle!

Will get these painted along with the anchor chains, and lookout platforms, then it's clear coats, rigging and commissioning!

Russell,

Nice work on those directors. I to also puchase extras for the same reason. Glad to know I am not the only one.

Hi Ken. Good to see you hereabouts.

Yep, it's been a slog, but after tonight the building stage is all but completed and it's onto clear coats and then the rig ready for commissioning
