Bob,

The problem with Rob's ribbon image was that it was a .jpg. It needs to be a .gif.

I've converted it and can upload it if you'd like.

Looking at the aircraft list I don't see the McDonnell F101 Voodoo or the Northrup F5 listed.

Thanks Bob,

Most go and hunt it down from the stash. Intend to build in Extra Dark sea Grey and White rather than a Suez Scheme.

Cheers

Hello folks, I have a potential of 10 to 15 kits that fit so I'll work it out after I've enlisted.

Hello Si, if you build planes like you do ships it should be amazing.

Thanks Tom,

No pressure then!

Found the bird in question amongst the stash.

I plan to build her in extra dark see grey & white late 50's early 60's scheme. Need to find a warload, the kit stores are Suez crisis vintage

Cheers,

Well I had 18 possibilities in the stash I have narrowed it down to 2. The Tamiya F4U-1 birdcage Corsair or the Hobbyboss FJ-4 Fury.

Both are interesting kits but I'm leaning toward the Fury.

Simon: it is always seems like Christmas when something lost is found, or in this case when that stack is knocked over to find what I was looking for.

Thomas : nice choices, I think that I would go for the Fury also.

3 days till we start and I will try the Fury. I have to find some bombs and rocket pods. The FJ-4 was not equipped for Bullpups they were on the FJ-4M. This will be fun.

Howdy Thomas,

I'm not sure if the Birdcage Corsair carried bombs but the F4U-1a did. I have too much on my plate right now so I'll have to skip this campaign. But, I'll be watching, it should be an interesting campaign.

Take care,

Oh great, now I gotta remember where I buried my T-bolts. I guess I'll have to do that as soon as I get back to the us next weekend.

The Tamiya kit comes with a Brewster bomb rack and a 1000lbs bomb. They usually get their research right. But that kits for another time.

Howdy Tom,

I'd have to agree with you; Tamiya usually gets their research right. I remember reading Tommy Blackburn's book, they jerry-rigged bomb racks but were concerned they would kill themselves if they used them. They flew Corsairs but now I remember they traded their bird-cage Corsair for F4U-1a's before they went into combat. The Fury will be a fun build to watch.

Take care,

Well folks, the time has come. It's 1 June somewhere and that's good enough for me. I now declare the Fighter-Bomber campaign OPEN! Please go here for the official thread and start those bombers!

Of course, this thread will now be locked.
