Hi there

I also like the idea of keeping it "pure" to Lockheed - there's always room for a Martin (Marietta) campaign too.

Company mergers are always difficult territory; to pay for my college education I worked in the paint shop at what was left of Saunders-Roe on the Isle of Wight (then British Hovercraft Corporation), and the later names just don't sit right somehow... I've lost track of what logo sits over my old haunt at the Columbine Works these days...

All the best

yeah, thats about it. And we did have this very discussion when starting up the Douglas campaign.
LM is a different company, with a wide diversity of legacy products many unrelated to Lockheed.

Neil, I understand your program of building F-16s, its a fabulous project, but doesnt quite fit with what I had in mind here, sorry to disappoint.

No, that's OK, I can see why you would want to apply the same principles as the Douglas campaign

A very interesting Campaign. I like my aircraft in basic black, I think I could find a subject or two to build. Something developed during the late 1950's using slide rule technology is more my speed.

Jessie, a good suggestion however I was thinking something faster than a speeding bullet and able to leap continents in a single bound.

For what it's worth, my dad worked on this classic before I learned how to use a slide rule.

This campaign is APPROVED!

It will run from May 1, 2015 through October 31, 2015, so plenty of time to stock up for it if you have to (me, I've got plenty of possibilities already).

You can enlist here.

Sure to be an interesting campaign, thanks for proposing and leading it Jonathan.

Should be a good one!

The start dates of campaigns are more than a year out now, and Im enlisted in 10 of them at the moment.

Very little in my life is a well planned out as my airplane model building...

Ive got a lot of projects that could fall in this campaign, as well as others.

These are stills from a bit of ancient 8mm film.
This is the unique JC-121K Range Optical Observatory, operated by the Army in the Pacific Missile Range in the 1960s.
Look at the big picture windows of super clear glass in the dome. The egg heads would fly around taking pictures of missiles in flight.
and here she is in storage in the late 70s, waiting to be scrapped

thats a roll up door with more camera mounts

thats the northern tip of Kwajalein below the wing. the new residential fill under construction, dating the picture to 1966 or 67.

a nice view of a random small reef island through a round porthole,

Thanks Jonathan!

The plan with the U-2 so far is to scribe all the panel lines, something I need to start practicing as I have so many kits that need it including a 1/48 Hercules maybe I should do that for this campaign.

Cheers Rob.

Mark: have you got a P3 in your stash that you would like to sell? I spent time as aircrew/ordnance in VP8 back in the early 1970's. I could not locate any VP8 photos so this will have to do unless you are able to see the P3's in my logo up top left.

Sorry Bob, Haven't managed to get the $ for the 1/72 P-3 either... Now I'm wondering if there's a 1/144 offering.

LS/Arii did 1/144 kits. The Arii boxing was most recently issued in 2008 or thereabouts so it should be findable. Here's mine:
