Decisions, decisions, looks like I have an Academy 1/72 P-39N/Q or a P-47D Razorback available....

Hi, Sam. Glad you're getting off the meadows to show us how its done. Your model's are always welcome. (psst... go ahead, take one of Tomcats).

@Andrew - Just don't want to see a cluttered workbench distracting from the focus of a nice model. Diorama scenics are OK.

Can sound be added to a photo collection on Kit Maker?

I dunno, I'm just a dummy with some models. I'm going to keep this a standard issue campaign, though, with a possible 'Feature'. The trouble with music is that it dates quickly and not everyone likes it. Photos are more universal.

Can sound be added to a photo collection on Kit Maker? If so, may I suggest a slide show of the completed builds while Amazing Grace is played, on bagpipes of course.

I notice in the rules that a "completed model posed against a plain background" photo, I assume that a photo on a small dio would be appreciated as this seems to be a Russell trademark.

Totally did not hear about the passing of Russ. Very saddened to grind this out. While I never had the pleasure of getting to know Russ in person we chatted a few times here and he was always very kind and encouraging. Russ you will be missed. Godspeed.

Just picked this up for Russell 's campaign. Will try to attempt a dio base as that was something of a signature of his.

While I'm putting the ribbon up, I'll also tweak the rules to specifically allow Star Trek models. We can share the build with the Model Geek people because Russel liked to post over over there, too. I've put up an announcement on the Model Geek forums.

I know I shared a love of Star Trek kits with him and we had some conversations on those. I'd love to get one of those finished in his honour.

If you want to build a spaceship, Stephen, then please do.
I made the airplane rule thinking that's all Russell built. Knowing more now, I'm thinking build anything, just so long as you enjoy it. Russell's rule.

@Brent - I know Russell's family is aware of the campaign, and I hope a feature results from it. I'm sure they will see it.

I would like to join in also. I have a few 1/72 scale things that I could choose to build from as a tribute. Would photos of the completed models be presented to his family? Russell liked Star Trek, would a 1/72 DS9 Rio Grand Long Range Shuttle be allowed?

Sad news indeed. Russell always had a kind word for everyone's builds.
I know I shared a love of Star Trek kits with him and we had some conversations on those. I'd love to get one of those finished in his honour. If not then I have plenty of 1/72 aircraft that would be a pleasure to build.

He'll be greatly missed by us all.

I certainly will, as long as we're all happy with the design. I wouldn't want to force something unwanted on anyone.

Nobody has said any naa's. And if they have complaint's, I've got a phone number for the complaint dept....

OK, this campaign is APPROVED. With the suggested start and finish dates. And if anyone gives me grief about starting two campaigns in March, I'm sending them here.

If you haven't signed up, you can do so here. Let's make it a good one for Russell!

Since seeing the news I had a look at Russell's Gallery, he was obviously a fan of WwII German aircraft and Cold War jets. I have two that fit, a Frog Me Bf110G and a BAC Lightning F6 from Hasegawa. I also like his habit of displaying models in a fraction of diorama, so I will attempt that. I fancy the Lightning. My prayers are with his family.

is there a goal to this campaign? are we going to give a grant to a museum or anything?

Jonathan, my purpose for suggesting the campaign was solely to honour a fallen AeroScale friend. I never knew Russell on any other forum than here, so I believe he was loyal to AeroScale alone.
The goal of the campaign is simply to show respect to a fellow modeller by building in his honour. I can't think of a better way to remember him.

Ribbon is great Jessica.

Well I know I'm building my F-101 Voodoo for this one.

Russell was a good friend, my best wishes to his family and friends.
