Here's a little update on my Tomcat build. Following in the footsteps of most aircraft builds, I started on the cockpit. I used the kit decals for the panels which look pretty good in this scale. Here is how the base cockpit looks minus the seats and control stick:

The knife blade next to the cockpit is a standard #11 Xacto blade. I then glued the cockpit to one side of the fuselage :

I was not sure if the F-14 needed a nose weight so I added a small amount "just in case". Now it is on to assembling the major parts of the fuselage!
Have fun modeling!

Mike: Good looking F-14 cockpit, nice detail at that scale. I will probably have to hide the seats/pits on my builds by darkening the canopy as they have no detail whatsoever.

Lovely work going on here, folks!

I started my Great Wall Hobby TSR.2 some time 'tween x-mas and New Year's Eve. I didn't take pic with a newspapaer or so, but the kit just hit the market in mid December so an early start would have all but impossible.

Basic construction is straight forward but the is a

PITFALL:
The instruction has you install the wing parts before the intake parts on both sides of the fuselage. Don't do that! I recommend to install the intakes first and then the wing on top. If you don't you have to carve the intake parts at their rear to be able to slide them into their slot

Otherwise the build is a breeze. For cockpit fanatics this kit is a bit poor in detail, but you can hardly see anything inside the cockpit anyway.

I'll be putting up a full build video sometime soon at:

And here is the finished bird!
Quick but not all easy and still a fun project!

I hope you like it.

It was an honour flying with you!

How did you highlight the panel lines?

Outstanding build, Guido! That is a really nice finish to the TSR.2. I especially like the base and figure as that really presents your model well.

Have fun modeling!

Cheers Rob.

Prima gemacht, Guido!
I have the TSR-2 1/72 version by Airfix still on my stash and hope to build it this year.
For this campaign I have an XB-70 Valkyrie from Cyberhobby. Not started yet See you later, folks!

Folks,
I finally made it back to this campaign. (I've managed to have several in work at the same time ! ) Back to my beloved 1/144th !

I had previously declared an HC-130J build, that is not going to happen at present - just too much work. So I went "Shopping" through my stash and came up with something different and colorful. An FA-18D (ATARS) bird of the US Marine Corps.

For those not familiar - ATARS is (Advanced Tactical Airborne Recon System). The Corps lost all organic photo birds when the RF-4's were sent to the boneyards. They decided this was NOT a good thing. Soooooo... McD came up with the ATARS system. You essentially offload the vulcan cannon and magazine, and upload the ATARS package in its place in the nose. It turned out to be a unique answer to the problem.

Whether or not I can scratch build the new nose package - well ... we'll see. At any rate, here is my "starter" pic for the "Peeping Hornet"

Take Care................Bruce

High time I posted some progress on the Globemaster. I've been working on it for 3 weeks so far (as well as many other projects). As I am doing this "gear down" and cargo bay open, there is quite a bit of painting to do before I can assemble the interior cargo bay, which is where I'm at right now:

You can just about see the texture on the cargo bay floor and ramp in the picture. There are two large decals with the dark tread pattern to go over the ramp and floor, which should hopefully turn out like this:

Cheers!

So, having completed the Douglas Parade campaign, I direct my attention here.
This is about where I left off:

And after enjoying that DC-3 build, I'm kinda liking the small scale twin prop cargo idea, so I'm pulling this out as well:

Yup, there's two complete kits in there. Only going to start one for now though

It looks like we are gaining some traction with this campaign! It is great to see the wide range of small scale kits in progress. I have started to pick up my slow pace on my Tomcat build. I now have the basic structure put together and ready for the first coat of primer to highlight the flaws. With the basic plastic in black, I find it a challenge to find the various seems and cracks without primer. I did shoot a coat of gloss white in the wheel wells so these will need to be masked first.

Have fun modeling!

Guido, that TSR2 is amazing! But having seen some of your other work, I can't say I'm surprised

Anyway, look what the postman brought me yesterday?

As some of you know I'm working on a project to build sixteen F-16s, well, part of that is that I want a little line-up of 1/144, 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 Vipers...

An afternoons and an evenings work, and here we are

Will put a 2nd coat of white primer on this afternoon, then comes the decision - to brush paint or airbrush? Masking something this small could be quite fiddly....

Here is my build,N1K2-J Shiden-Kai.
The Platz box comes with two models, I built the production version for the "Small is Beautiful Campaign" a few years ago.
I will be building the Prototype which will require a tail chop! lucky for me the kit has two tails.

Agree 100%, Rowan did a in-box review on this model and this is why I placed an order for two (=4), great detail and fine panel lines.

Suddenly, Houston realizes there is a problem with the 737 engine nacelle's:

Next time, I really must take a look at the instructions.

This is my first EasternExpress kit. Its taking more filler than I'm used too:

Looks like she's going to need some more. We shall persevere.

I decided to mark the offending two projections, sand them off, and then rebuild using plasti-card and milliput. The photo shows the lower one sanded off; the upper marked too sand off:

Then, I went ahead and glued on the engine support for the left engine onto the right wing nacelle. This is the evolution of bad too worse:

I've stopped for messing things up for the day, while I go and seek anger management counsel.

other than the non existent cockpit, it looks lovely. May just paint the inside of the canopy gloss black, or the 'decking' in place of the cockpit flat black.
