Gents,

Are the vinyl wheels in Trumpeter's LAV-III kit too narrow? Also, do they require the outer plate to be installed, part G18?

TIA

Ah, maybe the extra plates on the outside of the wheel are for the LAV-III and no plates for the Coyote?

Brad

They are narrow and they will need the hub plate, were as the Coyote will not.

Also the LAV-III and Coyote use different wheels...
I compared the Trumpeter Stryker wheels to the AFV Club ones and they (Trumpeter) are narrower and smaller in circumference. Lots of resin options out there.

I just compared some photos of the LAV-III and Coyote and they appear to have different wheels, with the LAV-III having the narrower wheels, so if I am doing a LAV-III I think I am ok.

Thanks Guys

So guys, whats the best way to paint these vinyl tires? Are these safe from the paint eating through the vinyl? I use acrylic paints.

TIA

Hello,
Trump vinyl may damage over time the plastic wheel hub. I suggest to prime with a lot of paint the hub, especially the contact points with the tire.

Be nice if Trumpeter actually did do a Coyote kit though..with the ASLAV-25, they really are 90% of the way there.

Brad, safe bet is to use the armour covers, but I'm pretty sure I saw some in Afg that did not have them fitted on all the wheels.

Ya, I remember around summer of 2008, LAVs with the Aluminum wheels, sans armoured heat shields started showing up.
