JUst started the Academy M-18 Hellcat for the Tank Hunter/Killer campaign. Carved out one of the grills and put in the Eduard PE one. Got to thinking that something to go into the now visible engine bay would be nice. Is there no after-market kit out there? Checked Great MOdels, Roll MOdels, and Verlinden. So, what type of engine would go in there? A Sherman style, a Chaffee style? IS there a suitable aftermarket engine I can use? Hopefully find it cheap.

The closest match in scale that I know of would be the Verlinden kit # 1095 M4 Sherman Radial Engine or their kit # 1120 Sherman M4 Engine and Compartment.

The M18 used a Wright Continental R-975 which was an aircraft type of engine adapted for tank use.
Let me know if you use this kit and if it fits.

Normally I wouldn't have a clue, but I just bought the S/S Tank Destroyers walk around. It has a raidal engine inside.

Alrighty then, a radial engine which is similar to the Sherman. As the compartment will be closed except fot the grill in front and back, fussy won't be a key word. Thanks guys.
