Steffen Arndt (alpha-tango) sent us picture of his small, but very nice, Me 163 model. Steffen finished the 1/48 Flashback kit so to represent the first aircraft to break the 1000 km/h barrier in October 1941. The V4 prototype was flown by Heini Dittmar.

Lovely clean build Steffen.
A little beauty.

What was it like to build?
Did the kit prove an easy fit together or was there much crafting to do?

Cheers

Looks good, Steffen. I have the production version in my stash. I think I will go for the overall red scheme.

Thanks for sharing

Hi Steffen,

Sorry about that. But the Siebel and Do 217 features weren't ready and I didn't wanted to make you wait any longer...

Jean-Luc

P.S. Will you be at the Merschweiler show on sunday...

Hi Jean-Luc

o.k, thanks for clearing that up. Thank you also for preparing the feature and posting it!

Maybe you could add the text I wrote in my initial posting (please!)

I bought the Flashback kit of the Me 163A 1 or 2 years ago in a sale for 5 Euro. It has only a few parts but is pretty difficult due to the 4 fuselage parts. Much filling and sanding is needed at the nose and the wing-stern transition.

It lay around for quite a while because the pix in the Me 163 books (Ransom/Camman Classic Publ.) seem to be neither RLM 02 nor Cremeweiß (standard glider colour). It looks a bit like 65 or 76 .. in the end I went the "standard" road and painted it RLM 02 with a very glossy finish

A bit of historical background: this is Me 163 A V4 KE+SW. On October 2nd 1941 Heini Dittmar flew 1003, 67 km/h (=Mach 0,84 according to the instructions) being the first man flying faster than 1000 km/h

Yes I will drive to Merchweiler on sunday.

@Jesper: Many thanks mate. I plan to do Späte's machine too .. one day.

all the best

Steffen

Sorry Jean-Luc I've been having camera trouble. I will have it to you shortly

Anyway back on topic, another lovely model Steffen. It's a shame you have to censor the pics on your own website. Seems a bit silly to me but we are not the law after all

You see, it wasn't my fault!
Howard, no problem, I'll do the feature as soon as I get the photos.

Fine, I'm looking forward to see you. Will you bring some of your models? You could put your Bf 110 on our table for example . Tell me if there are models of mine you want to see. I plan to show the following:
- Hurricane with truck on Mark58 dispersal.
- La-7 with fuel truck and car.
- Ki-45 with fuel truck and Kurogane (diorama).
- Siebel Si 204
- LaGG-3
I will try to finish the Tamiya Zeros as well but I'm not sure I'm gonna make it until sunday.

Hi Jean-Luc

well, i just wanted to come as visitor .. but If you insist I will put one or another model in the trunc .. I have only here what is finished in the last few weeks (110, 190, 163, f6F, F4F, AB-41) .. I need to redo the F6F canopy ..but I am shying away.

Yesterday I got my HT Models booklet for the Avia so I will be back on it soon .. the Nick is curing in the box (the glue has soften the plastic pretty much and needs some time to cure .. also put some Mr. Surfacer on too so there will be nothing new ....

I could also bring some boxes ..if you want to decide what to buy next

cheers

Steffen

P.S. I am glad you bring your Nick dio as you did not make a feature after the Replic was published ... hint hint

Hi Steffen,

I said some models, not the whole collection!

Jokes aside, it will be the perfect occasion to put them on display on Mark58 bases. Last year there were some interesting vendors at the show. I hope it will be the same this year. One book shop was fantastic and I remember having seen all the quickboost range of detail parts.

I forgot to add the Storch + Greif diorama in my list...

Hi Jean-Luc

well, maybe I will bring the Bf110 then ... and the Hellcat if I manage to push myself to redo the hood

.... the whole collection is a whole lot larger .. I have counted them but I forgot ... IIRC 60+

I have already placed an order with Volkhard Waltermann of Aero Spezial. I think Heinz Nickel of vdm will also be there (they are based at Zweibrücken) .. .and then we will see how long the money lasts ..

I wanted to buy one or two bases too (depending on remaining funds)

cheers

Hi Steffen,

Take as many as you want and don't forget the Me 163...

I've just edited the photo feature to include the text.
