A pair of recent additions to my stash, a pigeon pair of Me262 A-2a/U2 kits. One is the Dragon rebox of the old Trimaster kit, and the second is a "white box" release of the new mould Hobby Boss kit of the same variant.

I am planning to build both kits side-by-side for the Schwalbe II Campaign early next year.

Cheers, D

Postie brought me some light reading today, 136 pages of Razorback tastiness!

Plenty of reference material here for the builds going on in the SOSIG P-47 Campaign. Come and join in!

Nice one Damian!

As we've talked about over on Auto Modeler, I'll be joining you back on Aeroscale with USAAF build - in my case, something of a Mustang "Mega-Build":

I promised Eduard an "everything plus the kitchen sink" build of their new-tool P-51D way back last autumn - and it's only now all come home to roost with the arrival yesterday of a rather daunting array of sets!

Special thanks also to Andy for sending all this on to me.

It's a pretty spectacular way to kick off 2020!

All the best

An old friend of mine visited me today.
More then 20 years ago I've built her with the winter camo and was one of the most intricate painting I've done.
Sadly she left me as life happened, but now that she is back, I will build her again the same, but better this time. Hopefully.

Got her from ebay, unopened and no parts missing. Fresh from the factory, except for the yellowed paper.

Hi again

Well it's that dreaded birthday time again tomorrow (I'm sure they come 'round quicker every year as we get older! ) so picked up a little treat today that I spotted on sale at Oxfam:

and Postie delivered a nice package from Amazon:

To be honest, the Lightning is a kit I've shied away from until now, because I can't help but feel it's overpriced at its full UK m.r.p... - but it came a bit closer to what I think it's worth online - and it's my birthday, so I cut a bit of extra slack!

If nothing else, it'll earn its keeps as benchmark to judge upgrades against.

All the best

Happy (belated) birthday, Rowan! Sure no easy time now to celebrate a joyful birthday.

This is something neither you can buy, nor postie will bring to the door, because I made it on my own ....

It's my new paint box for my Vallejo paints. Started on the 1. March and finished today. It's painted with 2 layers of colourless wax varnish in the end and has the capacity for 140 paints.

Hi Torsten

That is a really neat paint storage unit! Great job!

Well, an exciting package arrived today from Poland containing a trio of beauties from Silver Wings - including their brand new 1:32 Tiger Moth:

I don't think I'll be short of things to work on, even if the lockdown lasts many more months!...

Take care and keep safe.

All the best

They look great Rowan. I imagine that the Demon in particular will make a fantastic model at 1/32. Looking forward to seeing how they build.

Based on Tim Hatton's news announcement of the release of Eduards 1/72 Fokker D.VII, I went and immediately ordered one. And boy does this kit not disappoint! Beautifully moulded, packed full of extras and a generous supply of decals, it's a steal for the price they're asking.
Anyway, enough of the advert and lets get some pics up.

Got some books today and the delivery time left me nearly speechless. 3 days from England to Germany! Amazing! Inside Germany it can take longer for a parcel ....
Still have to build the Night Defiant and a Do 17 Z of the Ilmavoimat, so I hope these books can give me a helping hand then ....

.... and these campaign books might come in handy some day too .... I always have a soft spot for anything concerning the Finnish Army and Air Force.

Many thanks to Mark Peacock and his team for that great service! I'll shop there again.

Hi again

For a bit of a change, I couldn't resist grabbing these Luftwaffe '46 kits when I spotted them the other day :

I'll post reviews when I get a chance.

All the best

I got a couple of Eduard 1/48 Albatros kits - a DIII and a DV. I have resisted getting anything bigger than 1/72 in aircraft but succumbed. They were both less than $15/kit. I have to figure out how to paint those wood Albatros bodies.

Picked this one up today from a Facebook BSS site. Original factory shrink wrap with original store price tag on it from 40-ish years ago. Special boxing for a local department store here in Melbourne. Markings for an RAF SEAC Thunderbolt included, this one should be fun!

Also picked up this one to go with one of my current Me262 builds.

D, that P-47 looks interesting.

Ok if you guys don't mind I'll post photos using scalemates to show what arrived as I struggle to post using a tablet and flicking between apps.

Picked up two of these with a third on order

And this nice set of decals also arrived.

So some nice sun bursts in my future

Plus this rather bright subject entered the stash

After Rowan started his new build blog I also had to get this early Spit Combo, which arrived today as a birthday present from my dear sister ....

You just can't have enough Spitfires ....

Jessica, I'd never heard of the XF10F Jaguar until you posted that kit, I just had to go Googling. What an unusual choice of aircraft to release! Only two built, only the second one flew, and it ended up as a target on a gunnery range! Cool looking aircraft, it will be a conversation starter in any display.

Well, over 12 years and 167 pages of "Aeroscale Postman" reports, what a great thread to look back over. Just pick a page at random and see what (and who) is in there.

My last 2 posts both included P-47 Razorbacks, so why break the pattern? I've been keeping an eye out for this one at the right price for a while to see how it stacks up against the Tamiya kit (which is my favourite kit to build).

I also posted some Me262 additions, so I hunted down one of these, which will be an interesting build to say the least.

And finally, I'm ashamed to say I haven't built a Spitfire, apart from helping my young son butcher a 1/72 Airfix kit a few years back, since my early teens. I've eyed off the Tamiya 1/32 kits a few times but not pulled the trigger, but I couldn't resist the price tag on this one.

It looks pretty basic, with raised panel lines, but reviews say it goes together well and is fairly accurate, so I might track down some RAAF decals and take this one on as a long term project with a view to sanding and scribing and adding some detail.

I hope everybody is staying safe and well.

Cheers, D

The test pilot's assessment is what gets me.
Test pilot Corwin "Corky" Meyer, the only pilot to fly the Jaguar, described it as entertaining to fly "because there was so much wrong with it."
It's quite a bit larger than I though it was based on just looking at photos.

Hello, Everyone!

Thanks Jessie, for jiggling some of those old cobwebs out of my brain with your comment, above!

Though I received my 1/48 NICHIMO Aichi E-13 "Jake" many years ago, and subsequently, I bought the CUTTING EDGE Resin Cockpit, Floats and Engine "Upgrades" about 15 years ago, I've been putting off building this kit...

But it DOES warrant my attention, simply "because there ARE SO MANY THINGS WRONG WITH IT!!!"

Oh the things you find when you trawl the Facebook BSS pages

I would be very interested to hear if anybody here has built this one up! It says that it is designed for the venerable Monogram kit, but I have an Otaki in the stash so I might check it against that for fit.

Cheers, D
