The range of cheap and cheerful 1/32 scale kits by 21st Century Toys have been acclaimed both for their extremely low price and excellent decals. Frustratingly, they''ve proved hard to find in the past - now you see them, now you don't in Walmart and some other US stores - but now they seem to be being distributed worldwide.

I picked up three of the early ones when I was working in the US last year (Stuka, Bf-109F and Corsair) They are worth the price for the pilot figures alone...apart from the need to fill the screw holes used in assembly they go together as well as any contemporary kit...

..one thing I'm not clear on....are these plastic - or that sort of rubbery styrene that OO/HO figures used to be made of...do you use regular poly glues on them....?

They are conventional styrene (quite a hard, good quality variety), so use standard cements and fillers.

These kits would be prefect for the beginner or a youngsters who are just starting in the hobby . The figures are super !

Along with the 3 pictured above, there is also a Stuka, Macchi 202, Corsair, Me109 F4, and a A6M2 Zero.

Of them all, the A6M2 Zero was the first to be released, and was also the "worst" of the bunch as far as quality. The rest however are great for the price, heck the decal sheet in the Stuka is worth the price of the kit alone, never mind the rest of the kit.

They are rumored to be coming out with a P-51D and a Fw190 (not sure what version).

I would love to see someone do one of these up and plunk it down beside a Hassy kit with all the bells and whistles, and knock its socks off in the judging!!

For the price of the kits, you can't go wrong!!
