Two releases from Pavla Models featuring replacement vac formed canopies for the series of MiG 17’s recently created by AZ Models.

Contents:

MiG 17F with or without the periscope
Both one piece vac formed canopies are contained in a resealable transparent plastic bag. These are beautifully clear and thin replacements for the one piece canopy from the kit. One of the canopies has the distinctive periscope set into the top of it. The canopies are formed in the closed position and do not have the slight gap of excess plastic that you normally see on Pavla canopies. I do prefer the closed canopies as the plastic is so clear. There is no need to open up the canopy to see all the cockpit detail. The framework is well defined, the shape looks excellent and the plastic feels robust. If you really must open up the canopy then it’s good to know that the windscreens for both canopies are exactly the same. So if you are not to steady with your scalpel, you can cut a little excess plastic from your canopy of choice safely knowing you can use the other windscreen.
Ref no: V 72-97

MiG17PF with periscope
The single one piece canopy has the periscope moulded on top of the canopy. The windscreen is slightly longer in length compared to the windscreens featured above. It has the same fine framing and is very clear.
Ref no V 72-96

Conclusions:

These are great looking canopies from Pavla Models. The frames are crisp and the plastic is very clear. Nice one Pavla Models.
SUMMARY
Highs: Very good looking canopies, nice and thin, but not too delicate.
Lows: Great care needed if you really need to separate canopy from windscreen.
Verdict: Highly recommended if you want a crystal clear canopy for the AZ Models MiG 17.
