X-15 Pilot
  • move

by: Rowan Baylis [ MERLIN ]

Plus Model's standing resin X-15 pilot figure arrives in a clear blister pack along with a small sheet of decals and a length of copper wire. The casting is perfect in the review sample, and the figure is beautifully detailed, with separate arms and a life support unit. The sculpting of the high-altitude pressure suit captures the wrinkled look of the material used for the original. The casting points have been kept commendably thin, so preparation should be quick and easy.

Along with the figure, the set includes a generic set of decals, so only 2 of the 35 individual items are actually needed - a NASA badge for the figure's shoulder, and a data-plate for the life support unit. The printing looks pin sharp, and the decals have minimal carrier film. Completing the package is a neat full-colour painting guide.

Conclusion
Plus Model's X-15 pilot is beautifully produced and perfect to stand alongside Special Hobby's quarterscale X-15 kit. Recommended.
