Communication in the battlefield is one of the most important factors. Nowadays, communication channels are broad from UHF to TacSat. Precise localization of the units on the battlefield is also important and with the introduction of the GPS system, the chain of command is aware of most of the units and can rapidly take decisive action.
The introduction and development of electronics was a game changer. Communication systems are now smaller and more powerful. The achievable tasks are sometimes endless.
Pro Art Models is busy releasing kits to pimp up the M1078 SF support vehicle and this kit is part of the deal. As always, the resins parts are packed in a plastic zip lock bag and protected by a sturdy carton box.
15 resin parts on 4 resins blocks
1 PE fret
Pro Art Models decided to release a specific kit for the communication equipment that has been seen on the M1078 SF. Moreover, this kit includes 3 different radio racks: one for the Humvee (PE numbers 1-5), a radio mount specific for the M1078 (PE numbers 9 & 13), and for mounting on the roof (PE numbers 6,7 & 10).
The X-antennas are now done in PE which are easier to use and less prone to breakage than the resin counterpart.
In terms of electronics, the kit comprises a full FBCB2 unit, CPU, EPLRS, monitor keyboard and mounting, as well as a GPS receiver.
The resins parts are free of bubbles, the details are outstanding; all keys, dials, knobs are well represented. The construction is pretty easy with all the resin parts clearly identified by letters.
Since SF vehicle setup does not follow any rules you can add whatever radios you want to fill up the rack, for example: PRC-113/117 or PSC-5 or Sincgars radio such as: RT 1439. So you can pimp up the rack accordingly to your creation.
The added value of this kit is the PE fret and the nice FBCB2 unit, along with the freedom to create your own vehicle based on your imagination in terms of communication radio. The addition of the GPS receiver in this kit shows good attention to detail. The kit can be used for vehicles other than the M1078.
