J's Work is a diorama accessory manufacturer out of China with an interesting range of products from complete trees to tiles and bricks. These tree stumps can be found in their Terrain Series.
Packed in a small corrugated cardboard box, the two identical stumps are further protected with bubble wrap. A card sleeve keeps the box closed and provides an image of the finished product on the top and a suggested setting on the back with part numbers for the recommended J's Work plant life.
Cast in a grey resin the pour stubs are placed on the bottom and are easily removed without damaging the details. Each stump measures approximately 18mm tall and 35mm at their widest points. No scale is given as these can be used, in my opinion, comfortably with 1/35 and 1/48 with the diameter coming in at about 20" and 28" respectively.
Details are well done showing an aged stump that has been the feeding ground and/or home of insects. The fissures in the trunk, bore holes and general decomposition appear realistic. These should paint up beautifully and look right at home in an old growth forest or rural setting.
A welcome addition to add to that forest scene, these tree stumps should be a pleasure to paint and weather. At this time, J's Work products are available only at Lucky Model.
Highs: Very realistic sculpting and high quality casting.Lows: None noted.Verdict: An excellent choice for anyone looking for aged tree stumps, highly recommend.
