Me 262 A-1/U4 S.A.

Eduard's Me 262 A-1/U4 photo etched set is destined to enhance the realism of the nice Hobby Boss kit (see Steffen Arndt's impressive "out of the box" build here) and consists of three PE frets, of which two are pre-painted.

Fret n°1 comprises 52 parts of which some are very small. They are mostly destined to the cockpit interior. You get a multi part instrument panel, side consoles, levers and switches, a new gun sight, seat belts, etc… This fret is labeled FE 558 and 49 558 so it is also available as a simple ZOOM reference. Most of the parts are pre-painted.

Fret n°2 is labeled 49558 Part 1 and comprises only 14 pre-painted parts. These are in fact the cables mainly destined to the interior visible through the landing gear bays opening.

Fret n°3 is labeled 49558 Part 2 and hold the most important number of parts: in total 61. Here as well there are tiny parts and the appropriate tools and glue will be necessary to use them properly on the model. Some of the parts are destined to the exterior of the aircraft (control hinges, front landing gear doors, landing gear doors actuators, landing gear legs scissors etc…) but there are also a few parts for the interior (handle and lever for the interior of the canopy for example).

As is always the case with Eduard, the quality of the photo etched frets is very good. The pre-painted parts are excellent.

The black & white instructions are printed on an A4 sheet so to constitute a small 4 pages booklet. They are nicely done and easy to follow. Some plastic will need to be removed from some parts to be replaced by the PE parts and this is well explained in the instructions. To do the landing gear door actuators, some pieces of 0,5 diameter plastic rods will be necessary which are not included.

conclusion

This is a nice PE set destined to one of the better kits made by Hobby Boss. This reference will improve the look of the finished model, especially if you like the smallest details to be present in your builds.
