With December almost upon us, it’s definitely time to start thinking about getting a calendar for the wall of your study or workshop next year. For Luftwaffe modellers and enthusiasts it’s hard to think of one much better than Thierry Dekker’s Luftwaffe Gallery 2011 Calendar.

Thierry's artwork will be well known to Aeroscale readers (see Neil Page's review of Erik Mombeek's "Luftwaffe Gallery 1"), and this calendar really must be a Luftwaffe enthusiast’s dream, featuring twelve quite superb colour profiles:

January - Bf 109E-1
February - Bf 109E-3
March - Bf 109E-4
April - Bf 109F-4
May - Bf 109F-4 Trop.
June - Bf 109F-2 /R-1
July - Fw 190A-3
August - Ju 87B-1
September - Ju 87R-2 Trop.
October - Fw 190D-9
November - Fw 190D-9
December - Me 262A-1a/R-1

In fact there’s also a bonus profile in the shape of the additional Fw 190D-9 on the cover. The sheer quality of Thierry’s artwork can’t be adequately shown in the accompanying photos - this really is something that has to be seen to be fully appreciated.

The calendar is quite large, measuring 19” x 13.5” and hangs “portrait style”. This means the all-important profiles are a good size, while still giving plenty of room for the monthly calendar itself that occupies the lower half of each page.

Luftwaffe Gallery 2011 Calendar is available from Lulu.com, and you can also find more details on Thierry‘s Blog. The price works out at £20.77 - that’s only about £1.75 each for what are, in effect, fine art prints on each page. That seems excellent value, and I can well imagine you’ll want to cut out and frame the profiles - they are far too good to throw away at the end of the year!

Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE.
SUMMARY
Highs: Superb quality artwork featuring some great colour schemes. The profiles will be suitable to be framed after the calendar is no longer useful.
Lows:
Verdict: A beautiful quality calendar that deserves to grace the wall of any Luftwaffe modeller or enthusiast's den.

I mostly concentrate on WW2 subjects, although I'm also interested in WW1, Golden Age aviation and the early Jet Age - and have even been known to build the occas...
