Eduard has recently created a new line of instrument panels in their LööK range. This time around its been the turn of Eduards own quarter scale Hellcats to have the LööK treatment. Two separate sets are the subject of this review:

644011 – F6F-3 Hellcat - LööK
644012 – F6F-5 hellcat – LööK

The body of the instrument panel is created black resin and the instruments are painted or printed on. The instrument panel is attached via six stems that should be easy enough to remove. As they are attached to the underside of the panel no touching up will be required. The quality of the paintwork on the instrument faces and switches is very good. When you look very closely there is still that slight unevenness on the surface of the painted area. But you do have to look very closely to see this. I have been unfair taking such close up images, but you can see the quality of the finish is very good. This is a direct replacement for the Hellcats plastic injected instrument panel. The instrument panel is a lot easier to handle and the paint work tolerates handling, unlike the photo etched equivalents.
The pre-coloured photo etched seat harness has been around some time now, but is still a very welcome addition to this set. The instructions provide details on how to fit them to the seat.

Conclusions

The new LööK range of instruments seems to be a step forward. We have become accustomed to Eduards pre-coloured photo etched instrument panels and although they seemed a quantum leap when the first appeared, they do require great care when attaching. The LööK range simplifies the process significantly with impressive results.
SUMMARY
Highs: A lot easy to install than photo etched instrument panels
Lows: A slight texture on the paint work when looked at very closely
Verdict: If you want a good looking pre-painted instrument panel that is straight forward to install, then the LööK range will suite you nicely. Highly recommended
